The stupid **** that I regularly see my D-men doing:

    - They always go around the wrong side of the net on dump-ins. While the CPU forechecker always goes to the right side and gets there first.
-They are terrible along the boards and always lose the puck battles.
-They freeze up with the puck around their net allowing the opposition to hit them or just simply take the puck right off of them.
-on the powerplay they always go behind the net on dump-ins and just stay there until the forechecker gets to them where the either get hit and lose the puck or the hit the back of the net with the puck and lose the puck.
-They constantly hit the back of their own net while stickhandling when the are back there and give up the puck to the forechecker.
-Unlike the Opposition CPU D-men, the attackers can essentially skate right into your teammate D-men and still deke and maintain possession. You try to do that and see how long before they knock the puck off of your stick or flatten you.

This has been an issue for a while, but it has gotten a lot worse since 15....they really need to fix it as it literally ruins the fun of the game. I think that they should maybe program the offensive AI better rather than take this stupid shortcut of intentionally screwing up you teammate AI so that the opponent's offense has some effectiveness.
The game played near perfect for me on near default Allstar offline before the 9/28 tuner and now its horrible robot hockey as all the organic feel is gone .

From what i saw and read EA brought back the tilted Ice or boost programming whatever you prefer to call it so bad gamers can compete against good players online , you know outshoot them 40 to 4 and dominate and lose 2 to 1 .

Offline your players are slow and unresponsive while cpu glides around as needed while you cant hit a open 10 ft pass and then the goalie that was a wall lets in weird stuff from a kicked pass from the corner end line going two mph

Im seeing tons of stuff like this after the 9/28 just trying to make the game play normal with no success , very disappointed and at least Ea couldve gave us offliners options and actually make separate tuners instead of rewriting them .
Finally Roster share in NHL 22 ! Dreams do come true ! To Garryowen and Glory boys !

NHL 16 definitely has a foundation laid to lead to great things. But EA needs to start innovating in areas like goalies, AI, board play, net-front battles and offline modes. If NHL 17 still has the same frustrating AI and legacy issues...then it'll be obvious to me this team has no intent on taking the series to the next level.

I've been trying to rent it since release. The current rental market sucks (RIP Blockbuster). It's either "Low Availability" on Gamefly, or 0 availability on RedBox.

Someone should tell Amazon to get into the game rental market. It's not like you can steal a game from them once they've got you CC info.

Not interested anymore? Yet you haven't bought the new one? So you mean you haven't been interested since last year and you're not willing to give the new game, which developers and gamers alike say is actually a big improvement?

Hmm. Sorry for you. It may not be perfect, but my is it fun again. The goal variety I'm seeing alone has me geeked.

The game is a ton of fun this year and a huge step in the right direction. How can you judge a game without playing it? Games are something that must be felt.

Same graphics, same animations, same issues, Same AI... just same all around.

To be honest, I strongly believe the NHL series from EA needs to be re-built from the ground up. At this point with today's hardware and expertise, these games should be much better.

Any one else feeling this way?
Yep, after several consecutive years of buying the new version and regretting it, I have yet to purchase 16.

Yeah fair enough, but did you check out reviews about my thread? Did you watch gameplay video's on my thread or ask long time members about this thread? See what I did there?

I guess i could have paid for the game with out any investigation on my part, just buy it blindly because EA has never disappointed any one right? Yes of course, that would have been the smart play. I was considering checking it out via someone else but really, it would end up being a negative opinion about it, I would list a metric **** ton of what is wrong and why and then this would probably piss some people the NHL series fans off.

I stand by my earlier statement, the game is stale and tired.

if the super mega baseball guys ever make a super mega hockey.
that will probably be the hockey game I play next year.

I don't have confidence in ea anymore for the offline gamers. The game has been ruined since all this online stuff started.

if there was no online, we'd have a hilite show, stats galore, player separation, goalie separation, goalie styles, etc . it would all be there.

You make it sound like I delayed living my life until this game is ruined. What an odd comment. Perhaps you could explain what is up with the drama about some one giving an alternate opinion? You obviously do not want to hear it but yet here you are. I am not calling you a fanboy by any means just curious.

It just seems like a pointless thread is all. This thread is more about NHL 15 than 16, in which case, you're a whole year late. People are playing NHL 16, and it's a great game.

The fact that you said earlier in the thread that you think others are scared of your opinion because it's different from theirs is laughable. People just don't agree based on the simple fact that you haven't played 16 and have little clue as to what you are really talking about.

If we were in fact talking about NHL 15, then yes, I agree with you. I got bored of that game very very quickly, especially considering how addicting I find this series can be. But NHL 16 =\= 15, as I'm impatiently waiting for the 1st roster update to get my BeAPro and GM underway.

Re: I am just not interested in this NHL series any longer..

Yes, nhl 16 > nhl 15, but that was not hard to do, considering my friends and I stopped playing ea nhl toruney at my place, and now play ice hockey for nes tourneys.

The game is improved in all the ordinary ea superficial ways, better graphics(which are beautiful) , better atmosphere(which is amazing), in fact they succeed so well at making the game look like real hockey, but it plays so far from the real thing, its sad. When ppl we graphics that good, it makes the ineptness of the ai and goalies that much more glaring.

They do indeed need a complete rebuild of the game. Stick handling is so bad, passing feels ridiculous, hitting is great, ill say that, but goalies are still abysmal. Your dmen skate away from the play just so the CPU can set up an awesome looking passing play cross crease one timer that will 'wow' you, until you realize that's all every team tries and your dmen skate away every single time, leaving you to shuffle through your players and if they give you the right one, you might get there on time to save the play.

What a joke. The game shouldn't be about changing players constantly fixinflg ai mistakes, it should be about playing hockey.

Fair enough, you said it is a great game. What has been so great an improvement this year in the way it plays compared to previous years? I see people state is is great then i see posts that pick apart the Ai and gameplay in a big way. It seems to me and i could be wrong about this that there is a few various opinions of the game. Here is what I noticed:

The game is great opinion = very little detail given

The game is not that great opinion = lots of details given

                                That is what ive noticed.
