And they put a bank of 100 or so faces that people can use online etc.... but they don't let you use those faces in other modes... so you get stuck with half your team looking the same after five years in career modes. It's mind-boggling the way they compound the problem with decisions like that.

It's over 200 faces and with the edits you can make to hair and facial hair you can achieve decent results. At least better than EA effort.
I started a thread about creating a data base for EA but no one was interested, so I guess there isn't much of a demand for it, so that may be why it's not a priority for EA.
I was getting some decent results:

Re: NHL 17 Players Faces List
That's good stuff. But EA won't let us edit players in career mode... and they won't provide scans of halfway decent faces.
And the generated players are so similar. Who here has traded a player away solely b/c he looks exactly the same as someone else you already have on your team. Heck, I've had whole lines look exactly the same - it's like I was icing the Hanson brothers from Slapshot.
At least let us fix stuff!
I think my line is now - if the game doesn't let me edit in career modes, I'm not buying it.Comment

Ironically, they do let us change a player's handedness - you know, something that rarely, if ever changes - but don't allow us to edit hair or even height and weight, things that do change especially in young players entering the league who aren't done growing.Comment

Re: NHL 17 Players Faces List
What I've put together is a list of 30 established NHLers that are top 6 forwards or top 4 defensemen on their current NHL team. Some have already ended an NHL season amongst the top 30 in points. Some have signed major contracts in the past two off-seasons and others are currently negotiating as RFAs. Some are even expected to be moved in block buster trades. Some are captains of their teams. None however have their heads scanned in NHL 17.

Re: NHL 17 Players Faces List
It's total crap. I doubt I'll recreate this thread next year if it's just to add the names of Canucks and prospects. It's not as though the game improves drastically from year to year. The improvements are often minimal as of the past years, and they constantly avoid making the presentation and player likeness a priority.Comment

Re: NHL 17 Players Faces List
Quick fact: the two players who join McDavid as scoring leaders as I post this message are Nikita Kucherov and Mark Scheifele. I am not calling myself a visionary here, but these are two players I've mentioned by name, all over this forum, as players who should definitely have been scanned by this year's game. No faces have been added via roster update just yet but let's sit tight...Comment

Re: NHL 17 Players Faces List
Official Facebook just posted this response to question regarding player faces and being able to edit faces:
"hockey players are largely covered up so putting a ton of work in to customization when there are other areas that are more important just doesn't make sense. It's not that often that you're staring at their face. You do get to see them more in the brief cutscenes and when helmets come off, but we also have had more requests for arena customization than player faces. It's possible this could change in the future, but when we pick and choose what gets work and what doesn't, it's mainly based on requests from the community."
It's nice to know that they do not consider this a priority lol. What a joke.Comment

Re: NHL 17 Players Faces List
What a load of crap. It's not important to go 4 lines deep here. But team captains, starting goaltenders and most top 6 skaters should have their heads in by now. 1st line centres especially! They're major buildings blocks to any franchise.Comment
