International signings and management would be awesome.
Another thing I would love for them to cherry pick from FIFA would be the ability to be approached by international teams to coach them in tournaments. Some of the most fun I had with FIFA was managing Chelsea (I such at soccer, so I gotta go with the better than average teams) and then getting approached to coach Finland in their International Tournament. I checked stats, got players that would fit my attempt at assembling a speedy team, since I couldn't rely on stacked rosters of elite players like some larger countries could. Then, later, I got invited to coach Team USA, and that was more fun.
Imagine doing that for the Olympics, or the World Juniors (potential scouting for yourself there too), or getting to assemble the best Finnish team for the World Cup. It could be so much fun to assemble a smaller national team, and try to qualify them for the cup, picking from a list of guys in the European leagues, and whatever NHL and AHL talent you can get on your team too.
Oh, and that would also include being able to hire/fire coaches for your teams. Say you want to transition the Blues to a faster team, and away from the heavy grind-it-out style. You could find powerplay, head and assistant coaches who fit that style of play. Then they could request you scout certain players, ownership might say they want you to take certain types of players in the draft. Maybe you're in a spot like Columbus, where you could get a solid winger, or a potentially equal center, who's ranked lower, but has greater size...do you go against the owner's request to grab that winger and hope to come out right in the end, or do you cave and just get the better player now, instead of filling a position?
