I have been one of many voices on this forum over the year asking for them to incorporate all of their leagues into a single mode like FIFA's Manager Mode. I know it's a huge amount of work, and isn't a pay mode, but damn if it isn't progressive.

Unless there is a licensing issue, it needs to be done. I want to be able to start as a GM in the OHL (develop a draft of generated rookies to repopulate the league), get the the AHL, and move to the NHL. Maybe if I fail in the NHL I can go to Sweden and try to work my way back.

I want to be able to plumb Europe for some veteran talent to fill out my roster and maybe find the next Johan Franzen or even Panarin.

If it is a licensing issue, I doubt it would be any league but the NHL standing in the way. If they are, they need to look at all the elite soccer leagues that have no problem with this.
International signings and management would be awesome.

Another thing I would love for them to cherry pick from FIFA would be the ability to be approached by international teams to coach them in tournaments. Some of the most fun I had with FIFA was managing Chelsea (I such at soccer, so I gotta go with the better than average teams) and then getting approached to coach Finland in their International Tournament. I checked stats, got players that would fit my attempt at assembling a speedy team, since I couldn't rely on stacked rosters of elite players like some larger countries could. Then, later, I got invited to coach Team USA, and that was more fun.

Imagine doing that for the Olympics, or the World Juniors (potential scouting for yourself there too), or getting to assemble the best Finnish team for the World Cup. It could be so much fun to assemble a smaller national team, and try to qualify them for the cup, picking from a list of guys in the European leagues, and whatever NHL and AHL talent you can get on your team too.

Oh, and that would also include being able to hire/fire coaches for your teams. Say you want to transition the Blues to a faster team, and away from the heavy grind-it-out style. You could find powerplay, head and assistant coaches who fit that style of play. Then they could request you scout certain players, ownership might say they want you to take certain types of players in the draft. Maybe you're in a spot like Columbus, where you could get a solid winger, or a potentially equal center, who's ranked lower, but has greater size...do you go against the owner's request to grab that winger and hope to come out right in the end, or do you cave and just get the better player now, instead of filling a position?

I'm an offline franchise mode only player and this video did absolutely nothing for me. I don't want to micro mange popcorn and hot dogs. Can't we just have solid game play and a normal GM mode.

An overlay that shows a player has 3 goals in 7 games since being traded and potentially cool in game stat stuff does nothing for you as an offline franchise guy? It's possible that there is a lot more of that stuff which would really bring the mode to life. Dynamic attendance would be cool if it was visually reflected in the stands in game.

Youre clearly not getting peoples interests here, so Ill lay em out for ya:

          Gameplay>>>>>>>>>Presentation
Real Life GM Decisions>>>>>>>>>Concession Stand Pricing

I get that youre one of those guys that is super optimistic and thinks there is gonna be a bunch of stuff in the game that they just arent showing us yet, but there isnt. If anything there will be stuffed that is promised that doesnt work and never gets fixed. Its not us being "entitled brats", its us being real. Hasnt the history of this company, and this game especially, made you realize that yet?

Answer:Our Be A GM mode has evolved into Franchise Mode as we have now added the business and management side of the hockey world. You can select auto assign and let the AI manage your teams business aspects and continue to focus on the running of your team in Franchise Mode.

I just saw that, GREAT news! At least if I don't like that stuff (I'll take a look) I can turn it over to AI and focus on playing and GM stuff. Might be an option you have to choose at the start of BeaGM?

LOL, you guys are making me want to buy FIFA this year.
I was already on the fence with it, but I'm really tempted to buy it. I know nothing of soccer though, but I've read the Franchise modes are insane.

bad_philanthropy, you're preaching to the choir.
I've been dying for options like this for years now. EA went out and bought all these licenses but I don't think they're getting enough bang for their buck.
Not only would I like to see cross-play with Euro and lower leagues as a coach/manager, but also as a player.

Soccer and hockey are so unique in that there is a huge international flavour to their sports.
Why not give gamers a taste of that uniqueness by integrating all the leagues together so you truly feel part of a global sport?

Re: NHL 17 Franchise Mode Trailer and Plenty of Details

FIFA Career Mode isn't perfect, and like every game its community gets excessively critical (imo), but coming from NHL it's fun as hell.

You can play as anyone from Barcelona or Manchester United (but fail and you're quickly fired) or someone as lowly as Exeter City in England's League 2 (fourth division) and all teams in the game exist in the same world when you start the mode. I love playing as a manager and working my way up from a lowly obscure club to a huge club. It's so satisfying to start in a shabby little town park trying to grind out a win with your crappy club no one cares about, and seasons starting a game as the manager of Real Madrid with all the glitz and glamour.

The variety and depth is fantastic. They have unlicensed versions of all the domestic cup competitions, and continental competitions (Champions, Euro, etc...) you can qualify for in addition to your league play. Also, someone mentioned how you can also be offered national team jobs, select your roster from the whole pool of players in that country and play friendlies and tournament like the World Cup.

Additionally, if you've had enough of playing in Europe pick a team from Korea, or Saudi Arabia, or somewhere in South America, or the MLS and it's a while different vibe.

It's also pretty fun, if a bit op scouting and developing youth players in your academy.

It also looks like FIFA is giving the mode a nice upgrade this year (some leaked screens yesterday).

The integrated mode just makes it so much more fun, varied, and immersive than the same NHL mode with different tweaks over the years.

Madden 08 (for PC) had all this, you went from playing matches to meeting with each player to adjusting ticket and concession prices at your stadium venue to fanbase approval rating as well as relocation. How other sports games has lacked these for far too long is beyond me, at least NHL finally gets it.

The only thing about NHL that holds me back on deciding is the gameplay, if it's bad like 15 and 16 were, then I'm not going to even bother despite how good the franchise mode supposedly will be. Same goes for FIFA, FIFA 15 was by far one of the worst and 16 wasn't that much better. PES has a fantastic master league which is somewhat similar to what was described in the post above (you go deeper into player management than franchise managment).

Onlybythegrace has been around here and knows full, well like many of us that gameplay is most important. We know that there are way more important things than hotdog prices. We also know it's just a video game and duplicating a fast paced game like ice hockey is not so easy. I do know that a condescending post to another forum member "I will lay it out for ya" and just another EA lies and the series is garbage post certainly won't make the game better and serves no constructive value what so ever.

I voice my constructive opinions on the EA forums where the dev's actually read and respond, doing so here seems kinda pointless, although Ive done it here too.

Its cool that some of you are happy with the game no matter what, in my opinion that partly why we get half assed efforts from this dev team every year. Im so sick of the excuses that theyre just a small dev team or hockey is so hard to replicate.

I cant play this game for 2 minutes without saying "Wtf?". Every game is a messy cluster**** of nonsense, and part of that is because of the way 95% of people play this game, and a lot of it is because of a lack of real and worthwhile changes to the game. The AI is an absolute disaster and is one of the main contributors holding the game back, for the 7 straight year or so, they dont even know that there is a net there and they skate into it 50 times a game. I could go on all day or post videos just from the beta alone thatll make you wonder what the heck is going on, but I dont wanna sound so entitled.(thats a joke, everyone relax)

Amen dude. I can't even play my position on defense properly because my CPU teammates don't seem to know how to play their positions so I'm left trying to cover for them also. I played 16 the other night. I intercepted a pass and had what looked like a clear cut 2 on 1. I was skating down sorta to the left side with the puck as I got up to the blie line and my CPU teammate was to my right. He just randomly stopped at the blue line no joke. ON A 2 ON 1. WTF??? I can't even begin to explain all the ridiculous times the CPU has gone into "God mode" and scored on some garbage goal to miraculously tie/win the game late.

I'm not here to hate on this game. I don't want to hate this game but the AI is atrocious. No sugar coating it, it's bad. If we had AI with some brains that could make realistic decisions and cut down on the cheats (speed cheat especially) then this game could play a lot better. I just want my experience to feel more "pure" and less arcade-like.

My biggest deciding factor will be the slider affect on gameplay.

I don't expect the AI to be perfect, and I will have to wait and see actual AI vs Human gameplay in the finished product with skilled people playing before I decide.

Last yeah, I just didn't see enough of a difference between 14 and 16 in terms of AI ability to handle their positions, or join in on rushes. I've heard various things from a number of people saying they're seeing improvements, but with something so subjective, you've either got to play it yourself, or at least get a video of someone playing more than EASHL, where human players pulling everyone out of position can throw everything off.

All fair points but there are people out there that will hate this game no matter what and I think his spoiled brat comment was aimed at them. This game is far from perfect and I personally would love to see better AI mainly in the neutral zone which has been non existent for years. That said, while not perfect by any stretch NHL 16 was a vast improvement over the disastrous NHL 15 and the game changer event has seen some of the ideas and wants of us gamers make it into the game. NHL 17 isn't even released and people are saying it's going to be terrible. That's idiotic. I'm sure there will be disappointments for people in various areas of the game including myself but hopefully it's a continued step in the right direction.

I've played this game a lot the past several years, and have enjoyed it for the most part. But it sounds like maybe my biggest gripe vs the ai remains, lack of neutral zone play. For me anyway, this starts to make the gameplay kind of boring after a while.
