Re: Can't relocate
Maybe it's because you didn't do it right when you started? I was just playing around with franchise mode and the first thing I did was relocate them and it worked

Re: Can't relocate
Yeah I think you're right. I started a new franchise and chose relocation right away and it worked. Maybe you have to start it in the off season only.Comment

Re: Can't relocate
Here's another option. If you go into creation zone and create a team you get all the same options as relocating. You can pick market size, fan base, your starting levels for facilities, everything that relocation has. The beauty of it is when you start a franchise you can substitute in your team for any NHL team and then you don't have to simulate the first season if you just want to start a franchise as your new team. The other thing I like is you can edit all the items and go test them in a play now game and make sure everything is how you want it before you start a franchise. When you do all that using the relocation feature in franchise mode, once you've finalized there's no going back. It would really suck to get thru a year of franchise and then realize the hot pink unis you made look terrible.
I would at the very least make a team in creation zone and test all your choices in play now before you commit to them in franchise. I restarted 3 franchises because the uniforms that I made I thought looked good when I was making them but once I got in game they were bad.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

I've been doing a bunch of relocation testing. You have to do it right away.

Those are some good tips. I did a test relocation where I made one uniform and worked on the stadium then exited, thinking I can go back to the editor throughout the season and keep adding and changing stuff but no... once you exit the first time that's it.
Btw, I started another test franchise with the same team and this time the owner was only 'somewhat' ready to relocate and when I chose to relocate he said he's not ready. So I don't know if the owner's mood is random or what. I guess there is always the option when you start the franchise to bypass the owner for relocation.Comment

Re: Can't relocate
Will the game allow you to adjust divisions to better align your relocated team?

Re: Can't relocate
Dont know how many Times i wrote this. There is no realignment in nhl 17. You can only move West Teams to West cities. And East Teams to East cities. The Division will be the same....Comment

Re: Can't relocate
Can you do this with multiple teams prior to starting, or only the team you're controlling? Like can I create the Whalers and replace the Hurricanes with them and create the North Stars and replace the Wild with them, etc?Comment

Re: Can't relocate
At the start of Franchise you have the choice of making relocation 100% on if you chose to move, otherwise the owner can deny you the request.Comment

Re: Can't relocate
I made the Whalers (replaced the Hurricanes) and the Nordiques (replaced the Panthers) and use the Jets. Just have to pick the team you want to replace prior to selecting your team to start your franchise.Comment

Re: Can't relocate
I didn't want to miss the first season before getting to relocate, so I made my own team and drafted players with fantasy draft. I then made the team, and selected the drafted players in create team's roster.
Problem is, after I substituted the team, all my selected players are also in their original teams, so there are duplicates skating everywhere.
Is there any way to manage rosters of all teams with created teams in the mix? I found the move players option in customization, but it doesn't include created teams...Comment

Here is the post: From me: I apologize, as I am new and cannot start a new topic.
Has anyone tried the create a team option? I have, and just wondering if the issues I experienced are the same as others?
When creating a team, you have the option to pick your new team's players from the Free Agent Pool (including your created players if they are not assigned to a team), as well as all the other leagues. You select a player, and it appears on your team's roster.
First issue: When starting a new Franchise and picking substitute team, the team I substituted for is still in the new Franchise.
Second issue: All of the players I selected to build my created team's roster with, are still on their respective team's rosters, including free agents. This creates duplicate players.
Am I missing something here, or is it a major issue that needs patching?
Thank you!
HailTheSkin's Reply: When I substituted buffalo it got rid of the whole team so I don't know what's going on there. As for free agents to avoid this I sign them after starting the season and also any players u want from other teams you need to move to team your substituting and then go to edit custom team and add the player from say buffalo (sub team) to your created roster. Then start franchise. I have no duplicate players this way.
I took the whole buffalo roster except made a few trades in edit roster screens and then tool the Buffalo roster to my created team after already swapping players from other teams to buffalo's roster if that makes sense hahaComment
