Re: NHL 17 Patch 1.04 Available Now, Full Details Here

Overall, I think the game plays much better after the update. The primary issue I had prior to the update was revolved around the Goalies - which were absolutely terrible. Most of those issues seem to be fixed.

A couple other changes that I would like to see:

1.) CPU Reaction Time: As it's been mentioned a couple times on this thread, I believe the CPU reaction time is too high. It seems like the CPU knows exactly where each player is at all times and fires off rocket passes without giving the user any time to react. Pinpoint passes, wide open skaters - just feel a little cheap. It doesn't make the game unplayable, but does need to be toned down.

2.) User Passing: Am I the only person who thinks passing is absolutely terrible? Its so frustrating to find a guy wide open, hit LT to pass him the puck and it goes to someone covered up by 2 CPU players. The puck simply doesnt go where I want it to go. Not sure if I'm just doing something wrong, or the passing skills of my players are terrible.

For #2 - try tweaking the pass assist slider, I have mine all the way up and still the CPU teams have a better passing % but it's not as frustrating.

I agree the reaction time is super high for the CPU and they almost always get every loose puck or recover it almost immediately when I poke check. They also seem insanely aggressive and constantly charge at you.

For the passes I found some to be inaccurate occasionally and I don't think it's my fault. You could try turning on the on ice trainer thing for passes so you could see if it's you since it shows where your aiming or if it really is the game.

          Thanks, I'll try that.

Also - I agree with you on the CPU's aggressiveness. What is also frustrating is the CPU's ability to get checked, fall down, get up and remain in possession of the puck. The way it typically works for me is to get checked, fall down and watch the CPU gain possession of the puck while I lay motionless on the ice. It's so frustrating.

I like the CPU being aggressive, but it has to be fair.

Yeah I agree, I notice I have an issue with checking them and they fall and block the puck and retain possession as well, it's really frustrating.

As far as the aggression aspect, sometimes I find it happens in the weirdest ways. They will constantly pressure me and push me when I'm in my own zone or trying to regroup behind my net but then if I'm in their zone and cutting in front of the net they will sometimes let me just waltz right in.

Overall, I really like the patch and I think the game is great. Just some small tweaks I'd like to see made but I could probably play with the sliders to correct some of it.

The cpu's ability to get checked and retain the puck relative to the user has been an annoyance for years. In my mind though, it can't hold a candle to some of the shoves the cpu can make while chasing you from behind to knock you off the puck. If the user tried those they'd be shoving air.
