I haven't downloaded this one yet.
whenever they mess with goalies they seem to start making these funny looking saves where they go at light speed to make a cross crease save. I hate that.

I also like how the goalies are now. I like how the puck squeaks through their arms and 5 hole. Im fearing this patch will get rid of that

Apparently, the tuner only applies to "human" goalies regardless of the mode, so I don't believe it affects AI goalies in franchise mode - I don't think any of the 1.02 goalie updates affect AI goalies at all, so that might explain why upping the goalie sliders has helped to fix the AI goalie issues as the tuner never did anything for this particular mode.

The patch automatically downloaded, I don't remember that ever happening before so it may be my settings set to auto download I have to check. The tuner force downloaded when I played a game of draft champions online. It's funny you bring up this happening to me before andcthat you log out because it made remember that I used to log out of online before even starting the NHL disc something I wish I remembered before this happened. I guess I have nobody to blame but myself

Ya the dreaded automatic download....it burned me once before so ever since then i made sure to not happen again. This is why they should let us to download a patch and if we dont like it go back to the previous patch. I dont know if thats possible but who knows....


Another reason why i update my nhl rosters after the summer free agency/ draft/ and roster moves. I have nhl 17 playing amazingly right now, and there is no guarantee that nhl 18 will replicate it. Ill buy 18 but if it severely lacks in a crucial gameplay aspect, i will go back to nhl 17 and use play now. Imagine if nhl 18 plays really well but the game reverts back to having 2 penalties per game like previous years. Another example is the cpu own goals in 17 after the latest patch/tuner. Gamekilling bugs....imagine u win a goalie duel game 7 in OT 2-1 because of a cpu own goal....

Too many variables in this game/series that could go wrong and render it unplayable offline. For my sake: if it aint broke, dont fix it

Just tried going back to my season after taking time off in frustration and quit one minute in. I'm playing against the blackhawks and as Keith skates the puck out of his zone, just before the blue line he drops a pass to nobody that goes on his own net. Despite it being a soft back pass Crawford goes down in a bizarre flopping desperation save giving up a fat rebound to his defenseman Seabrook who then desperately tries to stuff a back hand goal into his own net as if he's trying to win game 7 of the cup finals in OT. Crawford once again makes a diving save against his own man. What the hell did they do this game? I'm going to try some minor tweaking but this appears to be an AI issue with the last patch and I don't know what slider will fix stupid. Pretty bummed right now.

I must have a different game cause. After the patch I think the game play so much better , I'm loving his last patch

I'm off the ledge and have my game playing great again. I won't go into detail because I created a thread for those having the same problem I was and it's all there. Just super happy to be enjoying this game again and continuing my season. If you were having issues like me check out the thread and let me know if it works for you. Good luck

Tuner 1.02 Update (Feb. 8th, 2017)
*We are overwriting the 1.02 tuner with revisions to the goalie tuning to better reflect our original goals after community feedback and further testing.

- Increased top end of goalies precision speed
- Increased goalies ability to make saves in tight to their body even more
- Decreased screen effect some more
- Delay tuning on reactionary saves is now less harsh and more forgiving for being slightly out of position compared to the previous tuner.

Other then the goalies being a little better (which you can adjust in the sliders anyways) what are the differences in the original 1.02 and the new overwrite 1.02 other then goalie stuff. When its working right.


If you had the option to not do the update for the newer 1.02 tuner and keep the original 1.02 tuner would you rather do that.

Had my first high scoring post patch/tuner game (with goalie sliders turned up). Lost 7-3 to Arizona of all teams, they had 7 PP's to my 1 PP.

We better get it together these last 7 games or we will be playing golf and I might get fired. We have lost our last two against Arizona and will play them again in Arizona. They have a ton of injuries and are in rebuild mode.

The first release of 1.02 seemed much better, now the re-write of 1.02 has caused issues and I am back to using 1.00
Why would they overwrite the tuner? Really stupid IMO
I will never understand the thinking at EA
