Every penalty in eashl 3vs3 is now a penalty shot.

Every penalty, as in it's glitched? Or is it just overly sensitive in awarding penalty shots on borderline breakaways?

Honestly, I hate the 4v3 powerplay with an added AI player on each side so much, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to defensive zone penalties resulting in a penalty shot...

And I'm going to continue beating the drum for 3v2 powerplays. Let's have some fun with the EASHL concept, get creative, and breath some life into it!

EVERY penalty is a penalty shot. What a joke they made that. I just played a couple of games and there wasnt many but enough that when the game decides it's ok for one team to destroy a guy with a charge that it isn't a penalty but a clean check is it throws the game way off. 3v2 is the solution EA not stupid penalty shots. Give your head a shake

For those like me who were having difficulty understanding defensive skill stick, I've figured out you can't use it in conjunction with backskating. I was usually using it as I was holding LT. Works as I anticipated when I let go of LT.

Me too. I keep LT held in to face the player and use the D skill stick. Might be the best thing about NHL 18.

You can use it, but it doesn't work the same way—or at least when I use it while holding LT I find it a bit unpredictable compared to when not holding LT.

Define "unpredictable".

I wonder if what you might be seeing is the normal behavior of the skill stick when the R stick isn't used - it tracks to the puck's location relative to the defender and holds the stick there, it doesn't just stick out in front of the player all the time. This is actually how I use it - I rarely start sweeping it back and forth with R - I just don't find it very effective that way. By just holding it in that location you can actually clog a passing lane and still maintain position.

Anyway....It's easier to notice this "tracking" when you're skating backward rather than forward, and also because you're usually going to be backskating as a D-man, with the forwards sometimes coming down the sides - when you just hold R1 in that situation, the stick will track out towards the boards. If that's the unpredictabilty that you're experiencing, knowing that might help you deal with it a little better.

Oh btw...I just picked up the game, downloading the full thing now but getting my feet wet in the Stanley Cup game. But I had some experience in the beta so I had a pretty good idea of how the skill stick worked.

While holding LT it seems I can sweep but it doesn't always correspond to the direction I'm pressing and trying to position the stick in, or perform a sweep consistently by rolling on the RS, or seem to activate at all. Without holding LT it basically works the same way stick sweeping worked back in 2k.

I dunno man, as long as I'm holding R1, I can use the R stick to sweep freely, skating forward or back (with L2 on PS4, same as LT). Not sure why it isn't working for you.

When I load the game on Xbox one. I don’t get any prompts to download a patch or a tuner. Do I automatically have it? I don’t have the actual disc. I bought the digital copy. Thanks for any help.

Check the other thread.. I'm on 4/4 full sim 8 min periods, penalties/fighing maxed out, hum strategy adjustment 3/6, using prefer up and seeing good results.
