Ok, i didnt play NHL for a long time now. I rented the game thru gamefly but return it after less than 2 weeks. Now im going to buy this game.

I was deadset on not buying this year but after watching the first week of the season (including my first ever live NHL game at the United Center on Saturday!) and reading this thread I think I pretty much have to.

Mizz, I'll reach out to EA so they know who to give the 15% commission to.

been playing with this setting at 10/10 for years. never made any sense to me why slider gurus were leaving it at 5 while simultaneously whining about lack of player separation.

i was gonna skip this year myself... well, i just got it yesterday and am very pleased with it (surprisingly pleased) and i havnt tried any sliders yet..

The slider seems to have much better affects this year.
I used to have it cranked as well, but it didn't do anything. In fact, I believe the devs even said that at 5, it was perfect for separation. At 10 it was supposed to raise everyone's abilities.

CPU goalies are tough to beat, well, NHL quality ones are. It’s very rewarding to score goals this year. I’ve only played a handful of games but a majority of my goals have been scored through screens and on loose pucks around the net.

Just played 2 games with the attribute slider at 10..........WOW!

I really had to play differently with each line, I could dump pass a defender and actually beat him to the puck in the backboards. I very much look forward to playing a few more. I had zero intentions of getting this because of the lack of coop franchise.

But, to echo Fiddy.......I also hate you for this finding! Haha. Well done.

Wow, it really is a different game with AE maxed out. But I was getting destroyed by the CPU in my first four games, so I lowered CPU passing to 20 and AI learning and CPU strategy adjustment each to 1. I'm still having a hard time (maybe also because i play with true broadcast cam), but it is way more fun than before. What's weird is that CPU never clears the puck when on the PK, they always attack. Could this have something to do with my slider changes?

I haven't played many games with my backup Hutton yet, but Allen seems much more apt to make the crazy saves. Playing against Crawford today was tough and I could not get a clean slapshot goal, all mine came from screens.

So yes.. I do notice this effects goalies too.

The big thing this year like I've said, is the way EA changed the way they did ratings this year. I don't think this slider had as much of an effect in previous versions with their old way of rating players.

I was just thinking today when playing.. it's really neat to be able to beat the CPU D to a puck with Tarasenko or Fabbri and not have the puck iced. It's killed the CPU catch up speed issue.

Yes! I like to skate at the backskating defenseman and use saucer to pass to bank the boards and go behind the net, I'll skate by the defenseman to chase it. 99.9 percent before the AI dman can somehow turn 180 and zoom into the corner and beat me to the puck. Made me crazy.

Not today, Marchand and Pasternak were pests. They could enter the zone so many ways. I could chip and chase that self pass and get the cycle going.

Goalie rebounds are really good too and their save selections. I saw alot of different things that I rarely see, if ever. And one big one. I didn't see the AI catch one slapshot clearing attempt. They couldn't react to the puck being blasted by them, which is what it should look like.

Great great find. One last, that shots that go wide create major havoc when they bank off the back boards. Lotta fun

That's AWESOME! I feel the same way.. EA NHL has never felt this real to me. Glad you're enjoying it like I am!!

What would be the best way to increase board pinning? I find the CPU guys are very hard to pin to the boards.

Look under the checking tab in the sliders.. I forget the name offhand, but there is one in there for board play I believe.
