I always debate the best way to approach strategy. I don't think I switch enough while playing, and I'm not sure i want to invest a lot of time doing so. So having the game make common sense changes makes sense.

But I kinda hate not doing that myself, too. And then I just play some Chel and stop worrying about it.

There is a draft lottery. It feels more rigged than the real one LOL. Although to be honest the top 5 players in the draft are usually about the same

My biggest issue with the auto strategy adjustments, because I'd actually like to see the CPU coach change both mine and the opponents strats, is that the default for CPU coaches is to play as passively as possible. I wish Normal/Normal was the default but Defend Lead/Protect Net is the default. Imo, both teams should play balanced when tied, then change up or down depending on eventual goals.

Thanks! Ya I read from that same Reddit article about how it was kind of glitchy in that the worst team never gets the first pick. Obviously we know it can be rare in real life (if the NHL really doesn’t pull shenanigans). I’m thinking about creating multiple saves after I play the last game of the season. Then seeing how the draft plays out. I’m not going to do it just to try to get the first pick haha. I just want to see if it truly is a bit glitchy.

I’m pretty excited for the draft because I have 3 first rounders. My own, the Pens from the Zucker trade last year (pens are only a point ahead in the last playoff spot, and at the trade deadline I got the Panthers 1st rounder which could be a low pick because they have the 4th best record in the league.

Lol... 3/6 seems good to me as I adjust once I see what my coach is changing via the popup.

I do like the challenge. I like the flow of the game for the most part. I think positionally the players can be pretty bad at times. The biggest problem I have and have tried everything to fix is the variety and type of goals scored. Almost zero slapshot goals in any of my games. Almost zero wrist shot from the slot goals. Usually tight in close to the crease, rebounds, one timers, are the only types of goals for the most part. Have tried numerous slider configurations to fix, just cannot do it. It is really ruining the game for me. The game definitely has positives. I am hoping I can find a fix for that issue, but nothing has worked thus far.

For wrist shot goals I wasn't pushing the right stick to the left or right to glide first which gives you more power and accuracy, then push up.

I feel silly but I was just pushing up on the stick. I've had more wrist shot goals with that little change.

I swear Ben Ross stated that basic wrist shots were the jam and how to score from high quality scoring chance spots. I think he spot lighted that when he was breaking down a twitch streamer whining and complaining about the game. Video was like 30 mins long and I do believe No Sleaves uploaded it to his you tube channel.

I have heard players shoot better when you doesn't push your left stick at the same time when you shoot a slapshot. Meaning a player shoots better when he doesn't move his legs (doesn't skate) at the same time when he shoots. I am not sure about that, but I am sure that wristers are much better when you push the right stick left or right to make your wrister more accurate and to get more powerful too. To score more goals by shooting I recommend to wait your players made a rush on front of a goalie, it will help too weaker players to scoreby shooting. I am getting a great variety of goals with my sliders and rosters now. I am playing on superstar difficulty with my special AI set (custom rosters + sliders).

This game is incredible this year. The devs get **** on a lot but now it’s time to praise them. This is as real as hockey gets and way you see on tv

It's a solid effort for sure. Best offline hockey game ever when the sliders are actually playing true to the values you set. Would love to see more strategy options like 2k has though to truly make this game feel more real when it comes to the AI and the strategies they use.

I still had 30 min left on my trial. So I booted it up last night. First time playing it with the patch updates. I'm impressed, I'm not a hockey guru, I mainly just watch Stars play here and there during the season. But man the game felt good, organic from the few min I played I didnt notice the ping pong passing. It felt more organic, mind you I was on all star where in nhl 20 I got my rear end handed to me usually with at least an 88% passing and 40+ shots by cpu. I'm debating getting a the game from best buy since its on sell there for about $27.

Can almost never score five-hole on goalies.

I'm halfway through the season with the Blues, playing .500 so far, which is a disappointment. If we can't turn the corner, we will be sellers at the trade deadline.

It's been a blast though and I'll say it again, game play is so organic and fun in 21. I was up 2-0 against Dallas and they start dumping the puck and hitting us every chance they had. They even had a 5 minute major and game misconduct penalty which was cool to see. Joe Pavelski makes it 2-1 with a wicked one timer into the back of the net.

We had some great chances on Bishop, but he was stellar late in the game. With 0.7 seconds left Dallas gets the equalizer on a shot that trickled through Binnington's pads.

We go into OT and Jamie Benn wrists home the game winner. Losing sucks but that was such an intense and fun game.

So they're simulating how I was when I played hockey. Five-hole was where I shot the puck if I never wanted to score lol.

So far the game is solid for me. Very impressed with year-to-year updates.
