If I'm not mistaken, you can't turn them off in custom leagues. I assume that's what he meant.

I think we need the ability to be able to edit player ratings in franchise. If I want to create a story line of a superstar past his prime getting another shot somewhere, it would require editing ratings to get him on a team and stay. Hand in hand with this, is we need the ability to have full control of all teams. And along the lines of 2k23, be able to easily switch what I can control, etc.

I really do like the depth to the scouting system in NHL and would like to see a game like MLB adopt a better scouting system. The depth here really shows the lack of depth in other areas of franchise, like being able to control everything.

Also, I would like the see the ability to force win, loss, shoot out loss as well.

Without the ability to control everything in a game I play, franchise mode is not enjoyable for me. NBA, MLB, and Madden I can control all teams or at least teams I want to. Give me that here.
For every player a history including all taken trades, signs, honors, Stanley Cup rings would be a great thing. So you can search for your puzzle player to make a Team better. Told since years to EA but nothing. This things are saved during a Franchise mode dynasty and should be only implemented at every player ( not gamer ) site.

NHL is the worst at giving us control over franchise.
Everything seems to be pretty good if it works but when you want to customize things or make changes after creation it's all locked down.
There isn't even a way to see the schedule for a day or box scores for some reason.
When things are in every other sports game that's a big red flag for me.

Re: Any issues that make Franchise Mode Unplayable?

I'd be happy if they just got the basic rules right:

            - Lack of LTIR and this is a deal breaker, especially after the trade deadline. Have three forwards injured and you're at the cap; forget it. Pray you don't lose a fourth or the game is over as you can't put out a complete team and the game won't let you proceed. I'm not asking to be able to pull a Tampa Bay or Vegas LTIR magic shuffle, but at least allow players to be pulled up. This worked in NHL 17 why not now? Also, you should be able to choose when the player comes off LTIR if they aren't fully healed; you will never see a team forced to put a player back in the lineup when they aren't fully healed (though they can choose to do so). Having emergency recalls would really help.

            - Players you claim off waivers go immediately to your AHL team. Wait, what? That's the point of waivers to make it harder to send a player to the AHL. I'm not asking for the detail that the player stays in the NHL and the claiming team has to offer it initially to the losing team if waiver again, just put the player where they should be. Otherwise, why not claim waived players willy nilly?

            - Having a cap in the off season (10% rule). Why when I'm near the cap can I only sign players for minimum price contracts? Anything in the AHL under $1.075m has no hit.

Fix these and I'd be fine with game.

...And it just happened. Three injured players, should have ~$15.5m LTIR space but nope. Time to double up players on lines. Stupid.

On top of line chemistry being goofy

I’d say the fact that there’s still no all star rosters. Like I wouldn’t even be pressed if there was no all star game to play but at least have rosters so you can see what players had good seasons up til then.

I've been simming a Flames franchise for about 12 seasons now and I've really become attached to the generated players on the squad. The one thing that makes me not want to continue this franchise is the general quality of teams throughout the league is absolutely pathetic.

Maybe if they aren't going to work on CPU roster building logic, they could just have the CPU teams cheat, where almost all of their prospects develop or something?
