I skipped 23 and odds are without decent AI and franchise changes will skip 24 as well.

My question is, are there any plans to release for PC? They do for Fifa, Madden, PGA Tour. Literally the ONLY game they release that's not on PC, is NHL. Why?

I've read your thread and slider recommendations. Really great stuff.
My issue is that you have to use position-lock. And the reason you have to use that is because the CPU reacts a lot differently to a fellow CPU carrying the puck compared to the user.
When you're controlling the puck, the CPU attacks you like you owe it money.
The CPU also gets boosts so you lose a majority of puck battles regardless of the ratings for you vs the CPU controlled player.
But with player-lock, when your CPU teammate has the puck, the AI treats them with kid gloves. They also don't have any advantages.

That being said, there are no boosts to the AI opponents with this setup, guys that plays can attest to this. And as you can see, all the sliders for AI and Human are the exact same.

You can play controlling the whole team too. I have played games controlling the whole team and it plays great ! I recommend PL 🔒 because I think it’s the best way to play the game IMO. You can check my thread as to why I do.

I just want a game where if I'm controlling McDavid, Matthews, Makar, they actually feel like those players and like you have an advantage based on their ratings.

The last version I owned, I played a lot more CHL games because the boosts and cheats weren't as prevalent. When controlling one of the stars, I could feel the advantage I had over some of the crappier junior players around me.
IMO, this is the same balance that should exist when playing as an NHL team.

Like I said in another thread, my worries about 24 are growing by the minute. "The philosophy is to get the people in the game as quick as possible" 😫 Yeah, true that ! 12 year olds that wanna play a quick arcade hockey game against or with other kids online and first and foremost wants to learn the new meta or find some glitch in the game, doesn’t want to wait a few seconds more for a good intro… They don’t have time for this crap 😒

(Sorry, if my post offended kids or people that like arcade hockey)

Not that I was expecting custom music, but a Custom soundtrack when your team scores or between whistle would bring so much to the game !

And if I only play OFFLINE why would there need to be a licensing issue ? If you have songs on your PS5 or Series X, you should be good to go. NO ?

This game really needs 2 versions the more I think about it… One for ONLINE and one for OFFLINE… Each at a reduced price of let’s say 40$…

Online peeps can go crazy with their packs and stuff, EA can go crazy with their patches, tuners and stuff, they can turn this game into a "fortnite" hockey game if they want. Clown suits, giant heads, Green fluorescent skates and gloves. Why not ? This is the direction of every game out there nowadays. No ?

On the other hand, OFFLINE folks can decide a bit more of what can be in their portion of the game.

The best of both worlds. NO ? Everybody will have what they want and at a reduce cost on top of it all… Pretty sure the combination of both versions would top all of years prior sales…

Heck, I’ll run the Offline portion for free if they would let me…

Custom music/soundtrack has nothing to do with EA. Microsoft and Sony don’t allow it on the current platforms and moved away from it after the X360 and PS3 systems. Instead they moved towards the music app option where you can use Spotify or other apps on the system to play music. So that’s why EA would have to pay for each song if they wanted it in and as that poster mentioned, the additional cost isn’t worth it for something most players will never use.

What would be cool is if you could do the same in game and just have the music selected from your created Spotify playlist, but I’d assume that’s a huge pain to try to figure out since I don’t think it’s been done by any game developer (plus the cost of integration for something most users will never use).

It was on the X360 and PS3 consoles. I setup all my music and goal songs on NHL 13 so I’m also someone that enjoys it. But the majority of players will never use it.

Either way the new consoles do not support it. So there is nothing EA can do about it unless Sony and Microsoft open up the consoles to allow it. And it’s highly unlikely since they moved to using music streaming apps so there isn’t much of a reason for them to allow music files on the consoles HDD anymore.

Thank you for giving us this forum. As a long time EA NHL player, have to admit I didn't play as much as years past due to staleness in presentation and even game play (though it did improve), but also that other sports video game franchises like NBA 2K took giant leaps with their ERAs Franchise addition.

I am most interested in learning more about:
I. Presentation: what has been done? i.e. new cut scenes between periods? new
before/after game scenes? Stadium atmosphere authenticity?

**Presentation needs such an overhaul.

II. Gameplay: better differentiation of players based on talent/skill level?

III. Franchise: any enhancements?

IV. Other: Pheonix Coyotes Mullet Arena in the game?
Reverse Retros in the game (with Adidas out)?
Real NHL coaches?

REAL NHL COACHES!!! Yes, this is something I would love to know also. No reason why they can't be when other sports franchises have them. I find it hard to believe their union would be more difficult to deal with than the NFLPA or MLBPA...

At a minimum, make coaches editable... This would get away from extra costs, and we the consumer could customize our franchises with real NHL coaches, schemes, tendencies, etc.

A few years ago EA started touting their games having a sim, arcade, and competitive separation like you describe. However they never really did much more than add separate sliders. The base game is all the same, based on online or ut modes, so we are left trying to make these online games play more sim with sometimes lacklustre sliders and all these handicaps EA has built in.

One of the reasons I get nervous when patches and tuners come out. Just when we have the game playing as good as we can with what we have, what have they done to it now?.

I think they looked at the financials and decided it was a bad idea to have a real separate way the games play, even though all of us would love to have super deep sim sports games with everything in it.
