I need my hybrid controls back. Can't get the guy to shoot a quick wrister with the RS is so frustrating and is making me not want to play much already.

Love the challenge from AI. They are smart and they attack attack attack relentlessly. But because I can't put shots on goal with RS. I finish a period with 3 shots to their 24 lol.

Pressing square or circle to shoot at any time no matter if you're moving or not is simple and should always be an option.

Never thought I would say this but I am loving TOTAL CONTROL!!

I should have tried using it sooner.

The new button passing is made for someone like me who is not good at the game. It enables me to actually try to run hockey plays. I always have trouble passing . Now that passing is a little easier the game is opening up for me.

I am never going back to hybrid ever.

It is definitely worth it for me to try master using the stick.

I still have trouble getting off good shots using the stick but that is to be expected.

For a wrist shot you gotta flip the stick down and back up SUPER QUICK. At least that works for me.
You flip the stick up real quick. SLAP SHOT is when you hold it back longer then flip it up forcefully to put power into it

That seems to work for me.

The problem with the stick is that it's not UNIFORM. You have find your own individual pressure to produce what you want ONLY THE MOTION WILL BE THE SAME.

You gotta practice at it.

I don't know about the new total control thing yet but the stick skill they've had that I use I just flick up on the right stick and get wristers fine.

This is what I've been doing. HC is saying you have to press down then up really really fast for wrist shot. That explains my problem. Thanks guys.

Oh, on skill stick controls is there still the buttons for checking someone?

Well...I have went for it---NHL 24 on PS5
As a Hybrid user I needed to try something else.

Just diddlying around on the practice with the new Total Control......Its....kind of interesting. It means that my geriatric fingers can now pull of dekes, which are quite nice and fulfilling.

So....from the "fancy" to the "basic"

I am having some diffuculty taking standard slap shots though. If I pull back on the R/S then forwards, I am mostly going into a checking motion?
Thats going to require some further practice.

One question= the Hustle/ Speed burst---is that achived by pushing the L stick --just forward...or do you have to "pump" it?

Total Control is much more intuitive than hitting buttons. I never knew that the stick was so versatile.
You can literally create shots just by altering the angle of the stick when you shoot.

Total control has TWO Different passing options..you can simply use the right trigger or hold the right trigger down for ICON PASSING.

It is so much more versatile than hybrid.

I'm confused. Are hybrid controls the same as 94 controls? I haven't purchased the game yet but for 23 I use the buttons for checking, taking shots, etc. Has this been removed?

Hybrid is similar in setup to NHL 94 but some of the buttons are different. I didn't use 94 that much so I don't remember exactly what was different.

Two buttons for shooting rather than one for 94 controls. If you’re used to 94 Hybrid will feel the same. Same button to pass.
