ECHL Players

Hey folks… quick opinion based question. So ECHL has no attachment to Franchise once again. There are a good 25-30 players in that league that are between the ages of 21-25 rated in the mid to high 60’s. Do you normally drop them into free agency so at least they will be included and could be signed? Otherwise, they are wasted in the ECHL.

I have done that in the past with my rosters.

Cool. I will do that. So with players in Europe. Do they show up as free agents during the offseason or would you have to move them to free agency as well for Franchise?

Europe players do move in franchise, but I don't know how they decide that since not all are moved over to FA.

Im pretty sure they are in FA if they don’t have an NHL contract assigned to them. All of the guys with contracts (even unsigned prospects) remain on your team roster while the rest are available to sign via FA. That’s how it used to be in NHL 21 so I’d assume it’s the same now.

Ok but this does not apply to ECHL players correct?. I ran a few tests in Franchise. The contracted players in ECHL do transfer to the AHL. But the rest of those players dont move over. I searched several different players from the ECHL in Franchise and they aren’t there. So to see them in Chise…. Im assuming you would have to move them into free agency before?

They finally got that part correct. I always had to move the ECHL players over with contracts. But yes the rest of the ECHL players stay.

I usually move them to the AHL since I believe there aren’t any roster restrictions on the minor league team. But I believe if they have a contract, they stay on the roster.

I ended up moving them over well lets be real its EA someone may get left behind.

Beauty. So what i did was assign all contracted players to the AHL affiliate. Then i dropped anyone between the ages of 20-25 with a rating between 62 and up into free agency. Sure enough, started a Franchise and a few of those players were signed to AHL teams by the CPU. So it works which is great.

For the ECHL team, if they drop below roster minimum, go to Europe because they have several players rated in the 50’s, who are over 30 years old with no photo. Ship them to the ECHL. Done and done.

I moved over high retired players to ECHL for roster minimum.
