    Shorten Bench

Can someone explain how this works? I am not sure how it works. Has anyone seen it work?

Yes, when you are losing and want your top three lines out there, it will go to just those three lines until you either tie the game or take the lead... There is a risk/reward to this... The reward is you have a better chance in getting a score, the risk, you will tire players quicker and they may not be fully recovered before their next shift.
If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.

I have seen it work, but I have also been bitten by it also. I guess not really bitten, I was already losing... Once you tie the game, a lot of times you will go back to 4 lines... I only see the "shorten the bench" happen in the 3rd.

I assume you are talking about CPU bench? What about if HUM control do the top 3 lines recover faster at least initially?

No your own bench... I notice the CPU sometimes shortens their benches in game also... No, they recover at same rate, so make sure to short shift them...

How would it work with human controlled team? I'd assumecmos5 do their manual line changes.

It shortens your bench where you only have three forward lines to choose from...

No I get what the definition of a short bench is, but if you are manually making line changes, you do that on your own, so if it literally just removes your 4th line as an option, it's fairly pointless.

If the things comes up shorten bench and you accept it, the next time you want to do a manual line change you will only see three forward lines for a human controlled team... The 4th line is no longer an option...

So it is pointless then. Seems kind of silly and gimmicky but I guess from the cpu stance it seems nice.
