    I HATE THIS GAME!

I have every NHL game since its inception, I have been playing BAP since they created it

    This year is THE WORST

As others have mentioned, the biggest issue is goals against. Every time the sim to the next shift, the other team scores. If they shoot from the point, they score and score and score.

I will either score 3 or 4 games in a row, then have ZERO points for 15 straight games. Its absurd. I dont mind not scoring, but the CPU is going to score all the time, it makes it awful.

I tried All star, and thought, maybe its too hard. Went down to Pro. .SAME ISSUES

Unless someone can give me a fix or something, I AM DONE.
I haven’t played BAP, but try the sliders posted above. I have a similar version that I use myself for play now/franchise and I get fairly realistic stats.

I applied them and played two games. Definitely feels different, slower than I am used to. lost one, won one.

That’s good. Keep tinkering from there and you should be able to find a happy medium. After not liking the last 2 years due to horrible gameplay, I’m finding this year as much more of a challenge and having fun with it. Could def play a bit more realistic but I’m getting a lot better/more realistic results than the last two years.

Nope. Still broken. I played about 15 games

Same stuff. Give up goals galore from the point and when simming to next shift.

Is this only in BAP? I haven’t played BAP in years so no idea how that plays, but I do know it’s a little different so it might not be good. But for every other mode, the gameplay is the best it’s been in years, especially on Superstar.

Yes, BAP. It's all I play... until now probably. It pisses me off that I had to upgrade my xbox for it too.

As with everything in life, the loudest voices that you're going to hear on these forums are the ones from people who hate the game (or anything for that matter).

What I will say, is that there are a ton of people here that actually enjoy the game, and that have been quite helpful suggesting the adjustments to get it where I personally want it.

Regarding the sliders, it's important to remember that the majority of folks (not us!) play the arcade-y type modes that are fast paced, goal fest with a bunch of trick shots and what-not. It's where EA makes there money, so we can sit here and be mad at it, or accept that it's a reality in this game, as well as most other sports games at this point.

The great news is this-They've given us the ability to adjust sliders and tailor the game to our wants/needs. Having played a full 82 with an expansion team, and now 60ish more in my Ducks franchise, I can honestly say that it's the most authentic hockey game that I've played to date (Have played every version aside from '23, since '98).

I get the aversion to tinkering with sliders all of the time. I've done it in the past, and it's a pain. My experience with this go around was that I found a set, and spent a handful of games making some minor adjustments, and I haven't touched them since.

With this, I've had a variety of realistic results in both ends, lots of variety in CPU scoring, solid goaltending at both ends, and have had a blast.

I said it earlier in the thread, and will repeat it again...This is the first time that playing a structured defense is actually important. You can't just run around hitting everyone any more, you have to play solid, positional hockey, or the cpu will rip you apart. There are moments when it's frustrating, but it's what would happen in a real game.

The post above you referenced playing 1 game, and blowing a 2 goal lead, which apparently made it the same as every other version before it...My opinion on it, again from my experience in playing it, is that we're now at a point where adjusting strategy to counter the CPU is important. If the CPU is down, especially late, they will absolutely get extremely aggressive. That's what happens when 2 points are on the line. If you don't adjust, start chasing the puck, or have a costly giveaway, you'll get punished. That's realistic hockey. Blown 3rd period leads happen all of the time, and from my 140+ games so far, I can say with certainty, that it doesn't happen any more in this game than it does in real life. Sometimes you just need to chip the puck out, or ice it and reset..

There used to be a great thread in the MLB the Show forum, that was titled something along the lines of "If this happened in the Show...", and it was essentially moments from real-life baseball that happened throughout the year, that if they had happened in game, folks would have absolutely lost their minds about. I often think about it when I see posts about blowing a lead late, cOmEbAcK cOdEs, or other "interesting" events. If you get the chance, check it out.

Long story (very) long, I would never dream of telling someone how to spend their money, but I dropped $40 on it after Christmas, and haven't regretted it.
This makes so much sense. Love this game and the series as whole. Been tinkering with the sliders awhile. If you don’t mind what are the sliders you’ve settled on to get the most/best realistic feel for your games?

I was using Armor's sliders, but I still kind of tinker.

I think the biggest adjustments that I've made are to lower the skating speed (there's a few of them that seem to correlate together), hitting power (same deal), and shot accuracy.

Went online for a few games yesterday and it was pure arcade trash. Controls are wonky, movements are wonky and the random online player is often cheesy/win at all costs. Don't have the interest or patience any longer.

Being a long time 2K10 player, I went over to NHL Legacy (rpcs3) with recent and 20-21 rosters; massaged the sliders and tweak here and there, trying to find some fairness with the PC and I think I found it. Player models look good enough and, sure, it has its' glitches, but satisfactory enough.

I haven't purchased an NHL game since '17.
EA will never program a sports game for realistic gameplay.
Why? Because they hire noobs out of college who will work cheap.
They fill the game with 'back of the box' additions like driving the Zamboni or new intros.
But they don't waste time on AI. As you move up difficulty the CPU doesn't get smarter it just gets boosts.

I flipped over to sim gaming like OOTP and FHM.
I find it a lot more fun - especially in online leagues.

The real question is why are you still paying for this (if you are) - I just bought NHL legacy to try that out on PS3, haha.

The last new version i played was 2023 - and while it was alright, there has been no gameplay upgrades in a decade. I went back and played 07, 08, and 11, and decided 08 played the best of those three, although it did not have a puck flip and a few other minor changes. Still more fun than the modern version.
