Re: How to forfeit against cheating CPU?
I haven't found much cheating on All-Star, on Superstar though they cheat and go for cheese goals every trip down the ice it seems. The amount of soft goals makes Theodore look like Brodeur.
However All-Star is too easy and I rarely get challenged. And you get the ping pong passing on every level. I really hate that, I've seen them go LW-D-LW-D... for about 35 seconds straight without trying anything else.Comment

That would be great, because that stupid arcade **** ruins the offline aspect of EA's NHL series. Hard to believe they'd put so much work into making a great game, and then ruin it with garbage AI programming like that.Comment

Re: How to forfeit against cheating CPU?
I think there is a fine line between "AI Cheating" and the consistency of your players / goalies. The goalie has a consistency rating and I'm wondering if that has effect during EXHIBITION games.
I play position lock and have had numerous fun games, but have also had those games where you sit there thinking, "How did the CPU just score that???" It's almost as if the game is not designed around the player ratings, but some other factor (maybe it is what someone posted about having teams with ups and downs). Who knows.
The fun of position lock is that your playing WITH the CPU and it's fun to watch them make plays. The weird thing, is that because I am controlling a player, you would think that the basic gameplay is "cpu vs cpu", but I still feel as though the other team has some "boost". As also stated, they can nail every pass and you can literally know when the CPU is going to score on you, no matter how good your defense is.
Is there some "programming" comeback in here? I have my theories, but the devs said there isn't. Are they just saying that so no "riot" would happen if the truth came out? Who knows. We have to go based on what the devs say though. I have found it strange that if you're playing chicago and anaheim, it's tough for chicago to win (just as in real life). Or other rivalry games for that matter. Maybe if in real life, Boston dominates Montreal, then you'll have a hard time playing Boston if you're Montreal....others have pointed that out.
I've posted about that and many others felt the same way. Too weird a coincidence. Maybe there is some sort of "condition" rating (similar to pro evolution soccer where the teams condition: excellent, ok, poor) affects the gameplay (even during exhibition).
Does the CPU comeback a lot? Definitely. Does it happen all the time? Nope. I've had several games where unrealistic goals went in.....and games where you just knew the CPU would score....but I've had games where I've dominated (not much). It's a fine line. Either way, I'm hoping that next years gameplay is based more on player ratings and not some potential "hidden" slider or rating.
Is there comeback AI? The devs say there isn't, so, we just have to make do with what we have and just enjoy this game. Is it frustrating at times? Heck yes. But is it fun? With out a doubt.Comment
