In real life teams switch. Why wouldn't a sim player want to do the same? Personal preference I suppose.

Up all the way. And that sim players statement just doesn't make sense. If you go down, I guess good for you but I and probably most others just get messed up going down. Camera has nothing to do with "sim" though.

Teams are still switching sides in the game with the always up option so it still emulates the harder line changes because of bench locations in the 2nd period. It only affects where the camera is placed. I could turn it around on you and say that players in a real game are always going forward to attack the opposing goal, which is more closely/realisticly emulated by attacking up.

It is indeed a matter of personal preference. I'm just baffled that you equate it with being a sim player.

Please explain how you think this has anything to do with being sim.

When I play hockey, I am always going towards the goal so from my perspective I am always going up. I don't see what is wrong with this???

It's a bit easier to play up; but since it's slightly easier to win home than away IRL, I add this two ups home and two downs away to my "simming".

Playing down 1st and 3rd period away adds to the challange of playing away, and two periods up at home gives you a slight advantage of playing home.

To stir things up, what else? The Sean Avery approach to internet forum discussion, in other words.

You lose out on having to go for long line changes in the 2nd period imo. Call it more a purist approach then. I can see people's points that the're always esentially attacking the goal "up", for me it takes some of the strategy out when it comes to line changes is all.

You're also one to talk about the Sean Avery approach, Mr. I can't handle superstar, the ai must be cheating. But I digress.

The benches still switch, it's just perspective.

That is completely not true. The teams still switch sides and get long changes in the 2nd. The only difference is that the camera switches sides with you. Your statement/opinion is based on a false assumption.

Ahh thanks for that info, I always assumed it would change things having it set to always up. I apologize and stand corrected. See Baa? some of us can admit when we're wrong.

call me a moron or niave...but the concept that both of us are playing "up" over xbox live is totally crazy. When I am skating upwards on my tv, I am actually skating downwards on your tv. Just bizarre.

I exclusively play in the 'Action' camera, which means I'm 'Always Up' - I didn't like the concept in other NHL games, but I like it now.
