Re: So hows everybodys BeAGM going?

I decided to start up a fantasy draft with the Wild, in lieu of waiting for the roster update. The fantasy draft logic was very good, in my opinion. If you play with the cap on, you really need to think about which contracts you want to take on. You get to the 15th or 20th round and there's still veteran guys rated 83 or higher floating there because their contracts suck! But once you start the regular free agency period (after the rookie draft), their salary demands reset to what they could realistically ask for if they were UFA's. It was a lot of fun.

Also, I think that trading is well-done, but I'm only beginning to understand everything going on with it. I was able to make a trade with a team considered a "rival". Not sure if your relationship with another team can drive up the "price" when you're negotiating, but I was pretty happy with the deal I got.

Sweet, although I've heard you need to start via the season because the trades are horrific starting via draft.

Started thrashers GM, first game home against Tampa Bay. I had 35 shots to their 24 shot, won 3-0. Had 1 goal per period, last was a cheap one as they pulled goalie with a minute left.

Kovalchuk, Hainsey, and White all scored

Next up......Blues, Senators, Devils, Sabres, Canadiens, Capitals, and sharks. Really have no idea what to expect, but this game is fun as hell. Using one of the guys sliders in forum.

I'm waiting for rosters but havent decided on a team yet. I just started watching hockey again last year. I'm a Capitals fan because there AHL team Hershey Bears (Defending Calder Cup Champs) is about 20 minutes from where I live. I didnt wanna use them though cuz there already good. Was thinking about using a not so good team and maybe trying to trade for Hershey Bears LW Alexander Giroux. Teams below are who I had in mind to use. Yeah they all suck.

              Nashville Predators
              New York Islanders
              Atlanta Thrashers
              Phoenix Coyotes
              Florida Panthers
              DENVER BRONCOS (8-4)
              WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINEERS (9-3)

Leafs franchise. First thing I did was trade Kaberle. Surprisingly I got Dion Phaneuf for him. Im thrilled!

Played the first game won 3-0 against montreal. Good game. Blake got a really nice goal.

I simulated the next 2. Thats the way I play,( play 1 game sim 2). So im currently 2-1.

Oh and Phil Kessel is working out pretty well

jwoodson 15, if i were you i would take the thrashers. It would be really cool to play with Kovalchuk! Then try and base a team around him.

Re: So hows everybodys BeAGM going?

The only glaring flaw I'm seeing so far is that your GM reputation goes down if you reject trades proposed by the CPU. In my Blackhawks franchise I got a call from Detroit offering two low level defensemen (23 and older) for Patrick Kane (obviously not on the trading block). Of course I rejected that trade, but my GM rep went down afterwwards. WTF?

Really? I suppose you're right, b/c my reputation was a -5, and all I had done was reject a bunch of lowball offers and complete one fair trade. Probably the most glaring weakness with BeaGM so far (as others have pointed out) is some of the trade offers. I think the trade logic is actually pretty good, and I love how it values age, contract status, and progression as much as overall rating. But during the rookie draft, I don't think I got a single offer that was anywhere close to one I would consider. I think you could've randomly chose two players from each roster and come up with better offers than they did.

I haven't done a great deal of them, but I did complete a high profile trade for Eric Staal, even though he was listed as a team that I was "rivals" with.

The main thing is that OVR rating is basically irrelevant, except that it makes up part of their "trade value" bar. Look at the trade value of the players your offering, and view some of the other GM screens that tell you what that team needs in terms of position, skills, and age. I've made offers that I'm pretty sure were fair, except the other team told me that they didn't want to take on a new prospect, or weren't interested in trading for a defenseman, etc.

From what I've seen, the trade value bar for your players does not change depending on what team you're dealing with. But the value of your players will go up or down from what that bar indicates, based on the circumstances of the other team.

Exactly. I'd expect one's GM rep to go down if they were the ones giving out lowball offers. But the CPU's the one who comes out and gives these ridiculous offers (often for your best players who are not on the trading block) and you're the one who loses GM rep. That must be fixed for next year.

The trade logic is hit or miss though. The AI did propose one trade that I thought was fair (and that I accepted): The Calgary Flames offered Matt Pelech for Jack Skille. Both are rated a 76 in this game with equal potential. The Hawks are stocked with right wingers and need defensemen prospects and the Flames are stacked at defense and need wingers.

6-5 with the Avs. Playing on All-Star, 9 min. with everything pretty much at default aside from the attribute slider (maxed), CPU pass accuracy (zero) and CPU goalie reaction down 2 clicks.

Had Stastny go down for 6 weeks with post-concussion syndrome. 3-0 since the injury and Matt Duchene scored a hat trick my last game against the Red Wings in a 5-4 come-from-behind win.

Wolski had a fractured jaw and played a couple of weeks with the jaw protector on his helmet. Cool stuff.

I havent played this in about 8 years and just started my LA Kings franchise. I am in the 1st week of Nov with 18 points (2 ties) and in sencond place behind Dallas. I think I am going to go to All Star level since I have won 4 straight now handily.

Do the roster updates replace the rosters you are using during the season?
