    Re: BAGM Progress Thread

I'm currently sitting at 24-14 with the Cleveland Renegades (Formerly the Lightning)

Currently third place in the division. I FINALLY had my first shoot out the other day, and realized I stink, lol......The Panthers of all teams beat me in the SO...I couldn't fool their goalie at all.

I also had my first CPU tripping me on a breakaway called, giving me a penalty shot, which I made! Same game, two firsts for me. This is why I like to play this game, even though I'm not a huge hockey fan, more of a casual one.

However, I haven't had a lot of playing time lately, what with my wife's Packers in the SB and all.......

Hoping to get back into it heavy after tomorrow.

*Oh, this is NHL 10, BTW*

I won a couple games tonight. Beat the Capitals 4-3 and beat the Flames 3-2. I'm now 11-8-3 and I'm finally starting to reach a comfortable spot in the standings.

Atlanta Thrashers dynasty does not have a good beginning
            I now sit 1-5-1

Can't for the life of me keep a lead in the third - They're getting off about 30-35 shots a game I have no clue how to stop any of these teams when they get on their hot streak. They each end up putting up about 2-3 goals one after another. Not to mention Mason in the net is useless - He's getting traded or cut. Two games where he's given up 7 already.

Antropov is about my only bright spot offensively. My players don't break for the net, they just stand around on the corners. Little has hand marks around his little virtual neck for all the post shots he hits after beating the goalie.

I've dropped three straight games, and now I'm 11-10-4. My most recent game was a 3-2 OT loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

I was losing 2-1 for a large sum of the game, starting at about the middle of the first period. But then finally in the 3rd, a goal by Zach Parise knotted it up at 2-2. Towards the end of the 3rd period, though, I committed a penalty for tripping, and almost immediately after overtime started, I lost when Brian Gionta stunned me with a powerplay goal.

I wouldn't blame the goalie; they are, at least in my opinion, pretty weak in this game on the HUM side.

I would generally agree with you but for some reason Chris Mason is just awful. I have no idea why he has a higher OVR than Pavelec.

I'm currently running a Thrashers dynasty as well, in my 3rd year with them. After getting off to a great start, I'm getting struck by the injury bug. I had three defensemen go down in pretty much consecutive games, all with at least 2+ week injuries.

I had a great 1st line with Nash/Burmistrov/Patrick Kane, but Kane got absolutely crushed trying to put away a rebound, and he's now out 3 weeks.

Since all these injuries, we've dropped 5 straight games including a 5-1 butt whooping at home courtesy of the NY Islanders. We've dropped from 1st in the conference to 4th, so hopefully we can get things turned around in January.

                    Re: BAGM Progress Thread

I am now 1-9-3 as the Thrashers - I might not make it a month. Jeez.

Yea, Chris Mason is awful - He's getting one more shot tonight to prove himself against the Blackhawks. If he continues his performance, he's done, I'll cut him before I let that trash take up space on my roster.

I also lost Bergfors for 3 weeks in the game against Buffalo. Sakira (sp?) did the damage on him. At that point it turned into a street brawl an the refs let it go. Was a fun a game. Going into the third period we were both at about 27 hits apiece. At the end of regulation it was 40-29 in my favor. They hurt a player so I just kept bringing pain and Sakira felt a good many of them (2 late by Valabik). Plus I threw down the gloves with Boulton. End up losing in penalty shots after 2-2 Regulation/OT score

With Bergfors out, Stewart is pretty solid player - and I've since moved Kane to the first line at LW in the place of Ladd, moving Ladd to #2. I think I moved Slater up and moved Peverly down. I'm a little more consistent on attack with Antropov and Kane on Line #1 and seem to keep the puck in their zone a lot more.

My problem is still giving up to many shots - Part has to do with my strategies, I believe as I don't know what half the terms mean/formations are when it comes to Hockey.

                      Re: BAGM Progress Thread

After defeating the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 to pull into the finals and avenge the sweep in the last playoff series between the two teams, The Blues are in good position to sweep the Kings.
After winning the first game 4-1, with Jonathan Quick giving up all 4 goals in the first two periods, the Kings hoped to use their home-ice advantage to their advantage and even the series for game 2 before heading to St. Louis.
The Blues had other plans though, with Jackman, who has 4 goals in the playoffs (Even having missed 4 games) and Radulov putting up 2 goals in the first period.
The Kings would tie it up with a Powerplay goal and a point shot, that lasted into the 3rd.
Both teams would shut down the two power plays each team got in the 3rd, and it looked like the game would go into over time.
But then with under 2 minutes left, Jason Spezza who was acquired midway though the season in a trade for Eric Brewer and a draft pick would score 2 goals in 45 seconds to put the Blues up 4-2. With a minute to go the Kings would take a penalty for holding, and get a lucky goal when they got a breakaway on a sloppy PP line change for the Blues.
But time would expire before the Kings could tie it up, and the Blues would take a 2-0 series lead heading to home ice.

Are most of you guys going to continue your BaGM's after the trade deadline roster update? I know for me personally I've been abstaining because I know I'd just want to start a new one after the rosters are solidified for the rest of the year. It's killing me reading this thread, I'm really eager to get my BaGM underway.

What is the point in waiting for all the latest roster updates, latests tuners, latest patches to start your BeA-GM when the rosters will change anyways due to trades within your franchise and such???

I mean, I get it, but then I sort of don't.

It's already hard to finish seasons before the new games come out, why kill valuable time?

Since i've already made so many trades (Trading Brewer for Spezza, and Janssen and Crombeen, plus a draft pick for Couture). Also signing Radulov to a six year deal at the beginning of the season.
I figure the Blues most likely won't be making any crazy trades, so i won't miss it too much.

I'm tempted to start another one now that the Avs have signed Forsberg, so whenever he appears in the game, I'll probably end up either starting a new BAG, or just creating some playoff brackets with the Avs in the mix out West. I can't pass up the chance to play with Foppa on my team.

                                I, personally, don't think it's very realistic.

Since you'd be starting at the beginning of the season, why start with rosters from the trade deadline? It just doesn't make sense to me.

But if that's what makes it more fun for you, then go ahead.
