My guess is Dynamic Player Ratings/Tendencies, similar to what NBA Live 09/10 had.

Yep Money...like lots of people have said about every sports game out there I'd guess, that..."Hey!!, we fixed the AI/gameplay!!!"...isn't a back of the box selling point, normally. Although I'm guessing that EA Sports may be surprised to discover just how much the basic things mean to so many of us.

Many times I've been tempted to think that even with EA's market research, that somehow they miss understand to some degree, their average customer. That imo wants more than anything else....as true to life gaming experience with their sports games, as possible.

Just like the nation itself, the gaming community is aging, too. And I'm thinking the kinda gimmicky additions to sports games today...just don't have the same impact as years ago. As an older gamer myself, I'm really only interested in two things....sim-like gameplay, and at least some immersion quality. The rest is mostly for me anyway...just white noise.

I agree, it seems like sports gaming is becoming like TV where they only care about the young demographic and the hell with everyone else. It really bothers me how fixes and basic features go ignored year after year while they hype broken sticks and goalie fights, which I can't imagine was really being asked for by anyone.

So broken sticks are not a part of the game? I mean I sort of get your point -- even though I don't really think you describe it in a fair way -- but marketing certain things does not mean other improvements are not there.

DNA had nothing to do with why NBA Live suffered the fate it did. While there were still some bugs that needed to be worked out of it, there were a lot of things that were pretty revolutionary for a sports title that did work well.

It's been 2 years since Live 10, so you'd like to think that in that time, the DNA system has been refined and if we were to get something along that lines in NHL, it would work better than it did in the past.

Sorry I wasn't being sarcastic, I honestly was asking how it worked. I just think it's scary how much they've hyped the AI improvements yet the recent gameplay vids still look pretty terrible.

No worries. Like I said, there were things about DNA I loved, but there were also things that drove me nuts.

Man, sorry to hear you don't like the gameplay videos. I will admit to not seeing a huge leap from NHL 11 to 12 just yet, but I haven't played the game, so it's hard to tell what it's going to be like until we get a demo next month.

I'm with ya about GM mode, it's nearly all I play. So I'm really hoping that just maybe, the new "Anticipation AI may possibly make a nice difference. Or simply just improvements to the AI that makes the game/games, feel different. That's probably the thing I'm most hoping to hear someone say...that NHL'12' feels like at least somewhat of a different game. I'm still enjoying '11'. But at this point...I'm about ready now for a hockey game that feels, well....new.
Ya, I just want AI that flat out doesn't play the same every single damn game. When I play NHL 11 I can virtually do the same thing every time I enter the zone and skate around the zone. I absolutely can't stand that. The game is zero fun like that. I want a challenge where every team plays differently because of the players on their team. In NHL 11 the NY Islanders play exactly like the Sharks, Red Wings, Bruins, Canucks etc. That shouldn't happen. Truly the only difference between the teams is that a team like the Sharks have Thornton and Marleau who are in the high 80's to low 90's in ratings, while the Islanders best player is probably Okposo at an 85ish. Worst of all, it doesn't even matter when you actually play the game. It is just so aggrevating. I don't think I have ever played another sports game where the ratings of players doesn't even make a difference when you actually play the game.

Vikes, just like you I cannot wait for hockey season to start again. I'm just flippin happy the Twins are finally playing well again so that will help pass the time until hockey season. On another note it might finally be an interesting season of Wild hockey again. We finally have a GM who is willing to sack up and get away from keeping the team the same every damn year. They might actually sell out games again.

It was merely updates everyday using Synergy technology(correct me if I'm wrong) to update players tendencies, cold/hot streak and overalls based on how they performed the day prior to getting the update. I believe every sports video game needs this type of feature.

Yep Bwiggy, the difference in feel from one game/opponent to another, could sure use to be better represented. And would sure help to hold your interest through the grind of the 82 game season. After 40 some games or so in one season, it's kinda tough not to have your interest start to wane.

Oh man...you bet, can't wait till hockey season gets started again! Really looking forward to how the changes our Wild have made pan out. Next season should be lots of fun. And the Twins...yep, their a whole lot more fun now to listen to on the radio. [my favorite way to keep up with the games]

Rammer sort of hinted it has to do with Online so I'm still thinking it's online dynasty.

I have no idea what it is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was some sort of social networking/community feature similar to what FIFA is introducing.
