There seems to be no physics or real-world logic in determining what happens when hip checker and hip checkee collide. Comical at best, frustrating at it's worst.

Anyways, really enjoying it. True to form, the demo does nothing for the full game as it's been far more enjoyable and more ebb and flow to the games now that you can play more than one period.

More news at 11. Gonna play some online OTP and dive into the BAGM issues for guys like Realm, Money99, Flyermania, Vikes et al.
Looking forward to your thoughts on BEAGM, Sroz.

Glad to hear your enjoying the retail game. And sounds like the refinements made from demo to retail are pretty noticeable.

Hopefully patches/tuners, will help with some of the issues people are seeing.

The bug thread says for the "RETAIL" version of the game. I am playing the download via Season Ticket.

And my impression of this game is "ridiculous"... of the whole 10 minutes I can play before the game freezes on me, I have yet to see a penalty, offsides, or any stoppage of play.

Re: NHL 12 Gameplay Impressions Thread (360/PS3, NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

I turned it on Superstar to see how big of a joke that was.
Somehow I managed to get something slightly resembling hockey. There were stoppages. The AI was called for 6 penalties but none on my team. Shot totals were decent. Sadly the rubberbanding kicked in in an absolute RE-DIC-U-LUSS fashion and entirely ruined any enjoyment. The worst of which was when I was up 4-2 and on a powerplay I went to retrieve the puck that was shot down into my zone. Now get this, the AI forward proceeds to BOARD my defenseman with a crosscheck who DID NOT have the puck and instead of racking up 2 minutes for cross checking,2 minutes for interference and a 5 minute major for boarding the AI player gets the puck, passes it in front of the net to his teammate while my other defenseman stands at the side of the net doing -nothing- and they score. When I was up 3-1 I tried a slapshot from the point only for the controls to simply not work, the AI come up and just take the puck with no effort at all and score on a breakaway. To make it 4-4 my goalie decided to give up a rebound on every single shot,my players refused to pick up the puck when near it,checks of both kinds did nothing to the AI players and of course that led to a goal. For the grand finale with 11 seconds left they did the classic win the face off and just skate down then score on a piddly goal that gets stopped 99.9% of the time in real life.

After further slider adjustments and against my better judgement I decided to try again.
It didn't feel entirely rigged for once but 2 major problems occured. The shot totals were too high and the penalities consisted of: me accidentally running into the goalie in the 2nd,me getting called for "tripping" when trying to block a shot late in the 3rd...this was entirely chincy...then finally and interference call on my AI teammate which was again entirely chincy so they could have a 5 on 3. I was up 5-1 at that point (the AI goalie let in something piddly for once) and there was less than 2 minutes left so it didn't particularly matter. There were no offsides by the AI either.

--------------------------------------------------- Rubber banding still present, worst yet
          - Not enough stoppages
          - Lack of penalties/calls,especially if they're already in the box
          - Poor AI defense on your side that does not equal waht the opposing AI defense does

I saw this also, when I played a game w/ Season ticket. Only a few people were standing up. Don't know why EA made it like that

I have the retail disc and have played about a dozen play now games, with about 20 goals. I haven't noticed this once, but I'll admit I've not been looking for it.
I did notice the crowd on their feet a lot though as I was thinking the football games should have this.
I'll pay attention next time I play.

does anyone else feel like the game flow feels a bit disconnected from the crowd noise and also from the commentary? It's like when the mouths are moving on the screen but the sound doesn't match... Seems like the enthusiasm for the goals just isn't there this year...

As if the penalty issue, rubber banding and general lack of stoppages weren't enough I've now had this no goal glitch for a fourth time. That one is quickly turning into a game breaker.

Honest to god i was thinking of posting this but thought i might have to critical but the amount of times the cpu can waltz in on net without any resistance is unbelievable. Right to the front of the net and your Defense stands and looks at him saying yeah just take a shot we dont mind.

The user ai seems to get confused trying to break out the zone, i have seen a lot of the dman with the puck passing it right into the back of his defensive partners skates and the cpu picks up the loose puck.

I hope when i start a BAGM that its improved.

Played 10 games in Be a GM so far. I am loving the game so far, i'm 4-5-1 (maybe I suck) as the Blues. No Freezes at all. I'm basically on all-star defaults 8 min periods with the goalie freeze and goalie passing slider down a few clicks..

                              The good:
You get a lot of varied scores and games.
puck physics seem pretty well done. pucks get deflected off skates, sticks etc..
Goal tenders are not super human - you can beat good goalies, but you can tell the difference between Loungo and a lower rated back up..
                              The computer shoots this year.
You will notice guys like iginla, stamkos, Crosby, Sedin's and upper the tier guys; you have to lock them down or you will pay.

                              The bad:
The user D is a tad clueless at time. I may push up the aggression to see if that helps.
Cpu does this curling type play down the wing a lot. Hard to explain but its very difficult to stop when its a super star coming down the wing.
Hitting is a little wonky hopefully they can tune it..

Results of my last 10 games:
                              NSH @ STL - L 5-3
                              CGY @ STL - L 5-4
                              STL @ DAL - L 0-5
                              STL @ SJ - W 2-1
                              STL @ ANA - W 6-3
                              STL @ LA - L 4-1
                              CAR @ STL - w 2-0
                              STL @ PHI - W 3-0
                              STL @ VAN - L 1-5
                              STL @ CAL - OTL - 3-4

So far so good.. at the beginning I wasn't dumping the puck much and playing as good of D as I should.. Since I started paying more attention to D first I seem to have improved. After I had the two shut outs I thought maybe I had it figured out but as you can see I gave up 5 goals and 4 goal games..

This has been something I've noticed since NHL09.
Play BAP or with position-lock and you'll really notice the problem.
What happens is the CPU does not attack another CPU-controlled opponent with anything near how it reacts to a human controlled puck carrier.

I first really noticed it in a BAP game where if I had the puck anywhere near the crease, I'd have 19 guys jump me.
But if I passed the puck to a CPU-controlled teammate in the slot, they had lots of time and space. The CPU defence wouldn't even bother to poke-check. Not right away anyway.

I pointed that out after NHL10 dropped, but it's never been addressed.
