My first was NHLPA Hockey 93 for the SNES. After that, I owned NHL '96. Bought NHL '97 - 2001 for the PC. Then it was PS2 - 360 from then on.

Been playing since the game the one that only had the PA license in the early 90's. Switched to 2k in 2002 with Drury on the cover (but I also gave 2k with Shanny on the cover equal time with EA's game in 2000.). Switched back to EA in '07.

I still think it was NHL 98 on the PSX that blew me away the most when I first played.

i am certain that 97 is in console and not pc. anyhow...i agree with you...98 was the biggest improvement in terms of graphics.

The transition from sprites to polygons was mind-blowing back then. I felt the same way about Madden 64.

Yeah I've bought every NHL game since 98. I was thisclose to not buying it this year until I heard about all the changes. However, I can see them losing some customers this year just based off the total boredom factor of NHL 12 (just an opinion, but I didn't love the game for the first time in my life).
