    No I don't think so.
What they're saying is that if the CPU constantly outskates you, you're also gonna get outshot, as the CPU has/gets the puck more often.

But like I said, on Pro / CPU difficulty slider low end, I have no problems with being ouskated. I think that is "neutral ground" when it comes to most attributes and sliders.
I frequently outskate the CPU when I have a fast player, that isn't fatigued.

If you bump up the difficulty to Allstar or higher the CPU is gonna start to get boosts to certain attributes, and you're gonna need to tweak if there are certain things that you think must be even.
The CPU doesn't get smarter, more intelligent or skilled and experienced on higher difficulties, they simply get attribute boosts.

Thank you EA - This game is officially better than sex

The AI does skate differently. I think that is hard to dispute. They can stop without any spray and just mosey on the opposite way as your guy as your locking up the brakes in a full on hockey stop. They can just change direction with relative ease.

I have found a gameplay style I like. I am enjoying the game. But, they do suction pin me all the time and it kills me. I dump with Seguin with a full head of steam and the AI dman, who is flat footed mind you, can somehow turn, accelerate and give him a run into the corner.

Like I said, not complaining as I really am enjoying but saying that I do agree that the computer can "cheat" or at the least, read the input of your controller so they can avoid you, especially in the corners.

I'm just saying, I'm on All-Star and Hardcore Sim, and I don't have these problems. I also find hitting the Y as effective to pin guys to the boards and call for help. I think it is too easy to on the boards, if anything.

Yeah? I'm talking somewhat bad about a game because it deserves it. It's not that I suck. I'm a good player with a decent NHL 13 online record. I haven't played online for awhile, but I can give people a rough game now and then. Very rarely do I get shutout completely.

I'm not trying to say that I'm an undeniable god of a player. I win, I lose, I play. When things don't seem right like computer players being right on your tail all the time and snatching the puck without even touching you....I have reason to point out problems if I'm spending $65 each year on this game.

Re: The problems I deal with against CPU...

I just got the game yesterday as a combined Sweetest day/Birthday present from my wife (I have such a great wife). I haven't had a chance to play it much, because of tweaking my roster.

I have always thought that most (most, not all) of the people who really complain about the NHL series not being sim, not being realistic, DO NOT KNOW what realistic SIM hockey really is.

In years past, there was always complaints about the goalie AI being horrible. I never had this problem. I think most of the people having these issues have no clue what playing defense in the NHL is all about. Defense doesn't mean going up to the guy with the puck and knocking him off of it (at least not all the time). It means playing the angles, and taking away the pass, limiting his options.

You can't play a run and gun offense, you have to be patient, and take time to set up plays. You can't play a run and gun style, as your players will get tired fast, and then lose the battles to loose pucks.

This could be part of the problem. If you want the game to represent SIM hockey, then PLAY SIM HOCKEY.

In my games vs Superstar Cpu skating, hits, shots and faceoffs are even. The suction when pinning sucks but it works both ways. I take more penalties but I'm spamming the pokecheck, too bad Cpu doesn't poke at all. They do sticklifts and take hooking penalties though, especially when I just go around them with the puck.

I enjoy the game. Been tinkering with sliders a lot every year and I never ever play with default gamestyles. They suck.

I really can't believe this somewhat turned into people calling me out as someone who doesn't know how to even play the game, lol. If anyone wants to see how much of a "cheeser" I apparently MUST be to them, let me know. What cheering is to me is abiding bad AI programming. I don't do that.

I make smart plays, and sure, I fall victim when I try and dangle too much. I don't cheat, I don't glitch, I use what I've learned from watching. You can think I don't know how to play. That's your opinion, but it means nothing if you've never played me/seen me play. I'll restate what I said before; I'm not a god, I win, I lose, I play.

All I wanted to make known was problems I was having, whether they be overpowering AI issues or not.

If it is me you refer to in this post, then there is a misunderstanding here. I never meant insinuate that you, or anyone else for that matter, are a cheeser. You can play "unrealistic" hockey, and not be a cheeser at all. What I meant, is that most people (not necessarily you) expect to get "sim" results, when they play a style of hockey that is the farthest thing from realistic hockey.

In years past, I heard people complain about horrible goalie save percentages, when I never experienced this. If you play a run and gun style, your goalie is going to be hung out to dry quite often, and his save percentage will suffer. I have heard people complain about the AI players blowing by the human controlled players, when they routinely take 2 and 3 minute shifts. Of course these players are going to get blown by, because they are TIRED. The average hockey shift is 30 to 45 seconds.

I have been an ice hockey goaltender for 15 years. I have played on teams that played sound defense, and teams that didn't care about defense at all. My numbers were horrible when the team played "offense first"

All in all I'm enjoying this game. Yes the magical sucking your player into the boards is annoying. As is a defender turning his back and skating away from the rebound. But after some experimentation with the sliders I've found a balance that suits me well for most aspects of the game. It yields realistic stats and fun game play. For the most part the goals feel earned and mistakes are punished. I also like that unlike previous years occasionally I can dominate the flow of play and still get stymied by a hot net minder and visa versa. I've had wide open shoot outs and grind it out defensive struggles. Are there shortcomings, for sure. But for me at least this is much better than '13.

Re: The problems I deal with against CPU...

Ugh. Today I played a match versus San Jose. For whatever reason, San Jose always scores on me like crazy. I had MIKE SMITH in the net and he gave up 10 goals. Before it was halfway through the third period.

I don't play bad defense. Some of the goals were good, but others were just ridiculous goals. Mike Smith literally ran halfway across the ice to get a puck that my player was going after, ON THE POWER PLAY. I have never seen a goalie run to the ******* side boards just to retrieve a puck. All said, goalies cannot pass for their life in this, and since my pass went about 2 miles per century, the CPU managed to get it and shot it for a goal.

None of the other goals were like this; however, most were just slap shots two seconds after the face-off or horrible goals that an 88 goaltender should really be able to get. I only managed to survive because I was scoring my only horrible cheese goals. When I get frustrated, I tend to play fairly poorly.

I'll admit that as I grew more frustrated I probably made bad passes and played worse defense, but I just don't get this game. The goalies cannot pass, run around to retrieve pucks they shouldn't be getting, and make the weirdest saves while letting in the dumbest goals. My CPU players run around the ice without a clue what to do. On the power play, instead of getting close to the net, the CPU players have decided that the hash marks are where goals are scored. I will poke check the CPU and they retrieve the puck off of my poke check. I'll hit a CPU player and they won't even lose the puck; did they super glue it to their stick? My CPU players will literally change on the rush, in which case I'm trying to dangle through four players. Boardplay sucks. I can never even win corner battles because the CPU is magically there a split second before me, every time.

I smashed my controller because of that San Jose game. I'm in a pissy mood because of it and I just see no reason to play this game anymore outside of simming GM Mode. It might be an improvement over 13, but if they think this is a good hockey simulator, EA is a joke.

I agree that the acceleration with you and the CPU is not fair, Hal Gill should not catch Patrick Kane, I've had to fool around with the sliders for a bit to get something perfect for me now where if I'm Kane I can go around Gill if we're going 1 on 1, my acceleration is higher and the CPU's fatigue effectiveness is higher. Though the sliders say it's not fair, it plays like a charm now.
