I haven't gotten an NHL game in a few years. I'll definitely be purchasing NHL '15 when it comes out on the PS4.

I just hope its good enough that it makes me want to keep it to continually play Be a GM mode and with my friends when theyre over. I couldnt even do it with 14, gave it away within two months.TB Lightning | Liverpool | Panathinaikos | Toronto FC

Re: NHL 15: What the Ignite Engine Means
Obviously I'd love the idea, but this would essentially double their development costs and they'd need 2 teams to crank out 2 versions of the game every single year.
To me the key really lies in working with a single engine that allows more customization to gameplay, and thus allows both sides to be happy. By all means keep the "default" version of the game the way it is, so long as you have sliders that actually work and have a big time effect on the gameplay so that I can play a more simulation style version of the same game. It's not a perfect solution, but it seems like it would be the most realistic.
For example, in 2012 FIFA were reported to have made $100,000,000 from Ultimate Team in FIFA's 10 + 11 combined, the mode has since been integrated to come with the game from launch and will be now making more money than ever due to the introduction of buying "Fifa Points" rather than the packs themselves. They will be close to the half billion mark if not higher by now I should think.
And that is just FIFA. Factor in NHL and Madden UT as well and you are fast approaching that $billion mark if you aren't there already.
As I said, it will never happen and I am a dreamer but all it would need is slight tweeks in either direction whilst using the same basic engine. But there would need to be a nod in the direction of FIFA and Madden series to make them more sim as well so as not to single out any one particular game.Comment
