Unless they do something radically different I really don't think they can get enough of the market share away from EA and if 2K returns.

The demo would have to blow me away for me to even consider purchasing it.

Yeah it would be great for arcade hockey gamers. It could certainly fill the void of NHL Hitz. I don't get the infatuation with Euphoria. I think it does a lousy job of representing the sports physics of strong willful players fighting to keep their feet and muscle past each other. The Ragdoll-ism runs way too rampant in BB.

Have you really played BB? It seems like you are parrotting the same assumtions that people had before the game acutally came out.

The contact animations mainly the tackling, blocking, are great. The stiff upright running animation is more of an eyesore.

Besides the ocacional oddity that occurs maybe one in twenty plays the contact animations greatly trump the scripted stuff from other sports games especially when you consider how it affects the actual gameplay and when you consider other football games have odd tackle animations too. I have never seen anything in BB thats breaks the laws of physics like the guys falling off of the ball carrier in Madden. NFL 2k5's bread and butter tackle was a closeline.

The only time the physics in BB are consistently unrealistic is during pileups and when players slide on dry grass but when you consider that no football game has ever had pileups thats a petty thing to point out too.

Since it doesn't seem like you have played the game. Take a look. I dont see any ragdollisms.

From my experience playing BB I don't feel they are good with sports games. While the physics was good, it was a terrible representation of football. Players didn't feel different from one another. No one moved like football players. While some of the animations like tackles and everything along those lines was great and needs to be incorporated into EA's football games, the EA series still does a much better job of representing the game of football itself with the different attributes and ratings.

Physics is great, just need to make sure you actually do a better job of making it seem more like the actual game itself with the different players and many different styles of players and player types.

I for one am intrigued and will consider it, of course, only after stalking this site seeing what everyone really thinks

I've been labeled as an arcade player in hockey, so I'm sure it will be right up my alley.

I'm all for it, as it seems the NHL series is gonna be solely based on DLC and online content for the forseeable future.

I will purchase this first day out like I did Backbreaker. My only issue with backbreaker was that there was not enough ratings to round out the players and what they were good at. If they include more player attributes and more football aspects then the game will be fine. NHL 11 is good but not what I expected. Too many scripted variables.

Yep, I too will buy Icebreaker when it comes out, if only to support the idea. Backbreaker was a disappointment to me - not enough ratings, no trading, hard to view rosters/stats, and, the worst one, no ability to sim games (I only play parts of seasons to see my players grow and progress). I love the idea behind BB, and they have a core to build on, but it's a long way from suiting my needs.

And, yeah, NHL 11 is not all that. In some ways it is a shade better than NHL 10; in others, a shade worse. It appears to be a stagnating series, so I hope Icebreaker can come in with a fresh approach (though, hopefully, not with the same failings as BB).
