Well the developers would, but IF they were to do one, it indeed wouldn't be a focus until after the release of 2K11 for the Wii.

I highly doubt they would do back to support a game that is a year old...after all, they don't support the game much at all in the current release cycle.

I don't have any idea how you came up with this view.

Not saying they will necessarily, though if they really wanted people to believe they weren't giving up on the 360/PS3, supporting 2K10 somewhat until the release of 2K12 would be a good idea. Who knows what they will do.

Only that it makes no logical sense given 2k's post release support track record.

This is kind of what bugs me and I understand that action speaks louder than words, but no one even believes that things just might change. They did with EA and I bet no one thought that would happen. I guess what I'm saying is I don't close the book or write anything off until it comes from the horses mouth. So until 2K comes out and says, we're done supporting 2K10 and or releasing next gen hockey games, I'm not giving up. I'm just not that negative.

lol, you need to give up on 2K10, it is what it is and they have long moved on to either 2K12 or some of them are helping work on NBA2K or MLB2K11.

I actually started a season in 2K10 and i an enjoying it. I havent played a season offline season in any game since Tecmo Superbowl on the Playstation. So ya, its been a few years. lol

The difference between EA and 2K is that what held back EA from greatness was their own ignorance.
What holds 2K back is money and resources. EA always had an abundance of those two. It was just a matter of them waking up and doing something about it.

I'm sure if 2K were given EA's budget we'd have 2K11 for PS3 next year.

I don't think people understand the power of hosting things like the Community Day events. EA does this for all their sports titles. They also make sure their developers go on forums like this one, they're very active on Twitter and in marketing their game.

I'm convinced if 2K did all of the above they wouldn't have the problems they do. But they either don't have the budget for it or don't have forward thinking managers that believe in the power of marketing your games or reaching out to the consumers.

Whatever the case, the reason EA could turn things around is because they had the resources to do so. 2K doesn't, hence everyone's skepticism that we'll ever see another 2K hockey game on next-gen consoles. And I'm one of those skeptics.
Judging by their track record and the black cloud that shrouds this company, I think we'd all be better suited in getting over the idea that you'll be popping in 2K12 on your Xbox anytime in the near future.

Good post Hank, I agree 100%, though I'm more inclined to believe the issue lies with 2k's management team rather than money. People like to make 2k/Take Two out as this small little independant publisher and its simply not the case. The're the third largest video game publisher in the US. They have titles and franchises that print money, (GTA, Bioshock, Max Payne etc etc)

If the suits at 2k wanted to compete with EA they could, put some money into the rest of the sports line (NBA2k seems to get plenty) and have a go at it. Market your titles, which doesn't mean do a couple cheesy cover athelete live action skits a week prior to ship with no game footage. One should not need to either work at 2k or have a presidential pass from Obama to get info on titles prior to a week before ship. Reach out to the community, communicate, give them feedback and take theirs and improve your sports titles. Show the fanbase that you give a **** and listen to them. Remember, the're the ones who buy your game every year, refuse to listen and well, you get the situation you're currently in now pretty much. Focus on the important factors first, smooth skating, responsive controls, AI all around Def/Off/Goalies, worry about fluff like playoff beards and pond hockey after the core gameplay is as good as it can be first.

Finally, if they don't exit out of the sport game market all together, don't start the next gen the same way you did this one, spend the cash on technology for the future, build a new core engine, remove all the old broken code (legacy issues) rather than rely on what is esentially a near 10 year old port job with layers of spit and polish, core circa Sega Sports. Don't allow the Wii to hold back your real NG/CG offerings. If they truly are planning on coming back to 360 and PS3 for NHL2k12, and don't have a better engine then I'd say its safe to assume its never gonna happen.

Hey Hank, at least they are still somewhat supporting 2k10 with the release the post deadline roster update. Let's see if they continue to do that for 2k10 once the 2010/2011. If they do, it will go a long way in showing they have not abandoned 2K hockey for 360 and PS3.

                            Absolutely!
If they continue to provide roster updates for 2K10 I'll be very happy and it would show the community they are committed to next-gen consoles beyond this year.

However, if they released the 360 patch for the PS3 that would say even more.

I would love to have seen what 2K11 could have become. Especially if they implemented the NHL TODAY feature that the NBA and MLB franchise now uses.
