Thus, my question....normally done through Bruteforce but it's an unreadable key. Looked high and low for a solution for that. I do have a PS3 and the game, but would rather stay on my PC.

You should first upload the game on RPCS3. And then into the game save any roster. Copy my roster overwriting the default and load my roster.
The directory of the savedata you can find it on the menu of the game on RPCS3. Not it's difficult.

OMG! Thanks Moli! I didn't even consider it was already decrypted for use in rpcs3 .... works like a charm!

The install path is:

<your drive>:\<your folder for rpcs3>\dev_hdd0\home\00000001\savedata


Since this update, here are the moves I saw needed:

Kraken: remove Wright, bring in Tatar from FA pool (14 max forwards for created team)
Ducks: Drysdale to Flyers (for C. Gauthier -- not a pro yet)
Kings: A. Englund from FA; Bjornfort to FA, then clone to Golden Knights from FA list.
Coyotes: Sanford to the Blackhawks

(Canadians: Lindstrom to Ducks, couldn't locate)
(Penguins: Pitlick to Blackhawks, couldn't locate)

For RPCS3 users, here's a thumbnail icon (the one that shows at the front screen for all of your games at the first emu panel) and a "splash" image/loading screen image. Makes them cleaner and up to date, of sorts.

Extract to your "icons/game icons" sub-folder. Go back to rpcs3 front screen and right click on your NHL game, then this:

Having some real good games having done some major slider re-works along with some defense players tweaks and strategies for both teams.

Updating these -- in the early stages (about 4-5 teams done). Using primarily the "Sports Forecaster" site. Creating some rookies but not using any scientific way of assigning attributes other than making them more defensive if not having any points and vice versa. Will probably tweak some top level players if needed as well as overalls for goalies somewhat relative to their performance thus far. Gonna be probably a good week until they're done.

Update: Up to and including EDM as of this point. Got held up. Not sure if I'm going to keep FLA as a created team or use the default team. I don't understand have them and NAS as created team other than a different uniform? It's more difficult to manage created teams with their limitations.

Haven't forgotten about this and had a short hiatus. Got about 10 teams to do and maybe then a few attribute edits for top players (if not already there). Also some basic goalie equipment edits so they don't look odd in game. It's slightly tougher now with teams having made post playoffs moves, but not impossible.

As I was messing around with these roster edits, I was wondering about how the game would play vs the CPU with some particular global edits (like the goalies seemingly were done some time ago --- though I take with some issue on those in light of how they "behave" at times). I did the following global edits for the CPU team only. I think that it would be better to just continue with "regular" edits for the time being, but I would consider applying these in, say, a playoff series. It's also important to apply the right team strategies, which is still a bit of a work in progress. I also included a link to a vid of how tenacious this made the CPU, especially later in the game when down, but I didn't feel cheated. I think some other slider suggestions are needed for goalie skill related to how highly rated (relatively) a given goalie is set.

GLOBAL EDITS for CPU team:

Forwards: reduce shooting tendency 50%
Defense: shooting tendency = 99; body check tendency = 90
Goalies: stick handle = 0; poke check reduce by 2/3; challenge reduce by 50%; increase quickness to 50

For all skaters, max out the following attributes:

Discipline
Clutch
Influence
Courage
Hustle
Potential
