I hope there's a money or point system in the game that allows you to sign free agents instead of that dumb mood icon in NHL 2003. I can't wait for this game though.

I think the mood idea is neat, but they shouldn't have it as the ONLY part of signing free agents.

it's a points system. i am about 99% sure. they cant use money because they arent allowed. legal reasons. misrepresenting teams finances or something since the NHL doesnt have a salary cap [teams have SELF IMPOSED salary caps though].. I think it will be fairly realistic.
wings will have like 80,000 points
pens will have like 35,000 points

Ahem...legal reasons? No, this is EA BS.

But yeah, I imagine it will be a points system.

I doubt you'll find any EA BS in a Sega game....

But I think he's right. You can't legally say how much a team could spend, so they go with points. Football is different, because everyone has the same amount of cap room. If you notice, everyone assumes that you have the money to pay players up to the cap level.

                      Re: Whoa...2K3 Interview

Well, I suppose it's possible that the league wouldn't allow it, but I think it's HIGHLY unlikely

By "EA BS" I meant that EA has, in the past, stated that some things were not legally allowed in the gamed, and SEGA later said that they were making it up

NBA 2K3 also uses a point system, and the NBA DOES have a salary cap. It doesn't have anything to do with that...

I'm not complaining, though. I think a point system is just fine
