There are a few tiny bugs in NHL 2k3.

I have experienced 3 bugs in the game so far.

    1. This has only happened once but it was odd. My opponent won a faceoff, during a powerplay, just outside their blueline and the puck goes back to the defender in their zone. He just sat there for 30 seconds and didn't do anything until I skated towards him.

    2. This only happened once as well. I received a penalty and my opponent gets a powerplay. 50 seconds into their powerplay the announcer states that my penalty was over and we were skating 4 on 4. When the announcer says this, sure enough my guy in the penalty box comes skating out. I paused the game and looked at a replay to see who is in the penalty box. My guy with the penalty is still in there even though I just saw him get out of the penalty box. There is also a guy in my opponents penalty box who never received a penalty. This was very weird.

    3. This has happened several times unfortunately. I keep getting phantom puck freezes when my goalie never even touched the puck. The opponent will dump the puck in, I will take possession and start skating up one of the sides and all of a sudden the whistle is blown and the announcer says "The goalie freezes the puck." The ensuing faceoff is to the left or right of my goalie just like it would be if the goalie had frozen the puck. Very odd. I've had it happen about 5 times so far.

These little glitches aside, this is definitely the best hockey game ever released. I can't get enough of this game and I sure can't wait until the Xbox version next week so I can hop online and play.

I also would like to mention that if these small glitches were in an EA game everyone would be all over it and tearing EA a new a$$hole. I am willing to bet that no one will even care about these small glitches in this game. Has anyone else experienced any of these?

I agree i had 2k3 but i took it back...not as good as many made it out to be...i still was getting 70 shots a game off more than i ever got in an ea title...i'll prolly get flamed for that comment...i am glad you didnt post this on thunder puck they would be kicking your arse right now...they cant take any criticism of this game...total babies....i like the game play but sadly they had a few ommisions that turned me off to the game no created player in franchise and being forced to use the analog...oh well im sure that next year this WILL be the game that everyone owns...but for this year i'll stick with EA...oh well at least i can have a nice multi player franchise

      BDT,

I haven't seen any of the things you mentioned, did you change any of the sliders, i noticed there was one for puck freeze time?

quicksilver, you make me laugh, every input you give in this forum starts out "I had the game, but this put me off" , you are an obvious fanboy who just want people to go with EA. The review and comments people made who have the game, dont say that the shots is as unrealistic as EA , and all other crap you say. So if you dont like the game stay of NHL2k3 threads.
I , unlike you , have owned most NHL games there are and NHL2k3 seems to be the best of them all. I can tell you that NHL2003 is a step in the wrong direction. Your word is nothing compared to all the good views people who own the game (not fake as you) and reviewers give

          Cook,
The first thing listed was during my first game in which I didn't mess with any of the sliders. The other two occured after I messed with them but the puck freeze slider wasn't the problem since the goalie never touched the puck for it to be freezed.

And I didn't say I didn't like this game because I think it is the best hockey game ever made. I was just trying to point out some glitches I encountered and wanted to know if anyone else had encountered them as well.

Another glitch that someone else mentioned and I can confirm is sometimes on replays it'll show the wrong goalie...the action is at the other end of the rink and you just see the other goalies *** as he stands there watching the action. I have both NHL 2003 and NHL 2k3 (although it's going back today so I can get the xbox version)...and 2k3 is a way way better game. It has plenty of problems but it's a better game and it doesn't have those assinine EA traks.

hmm, never heard of that bug on any forum...
There was a similar bug on NHL2002 though.. maybe you get confused with that.

Re: There are a few tiny bugs in NHL 2k3.

The replay from the goalies *** is pretty weak, pretty much totally useful and should have been fixed. I haven't experienced any of the other bugs yet. I have noticed that the announcers are way off sometimes. For instance, I was the Bluejackets and they called a penalty on the Blackhawks and then talked about how good the Blackhawks are on the powerplay instead of saying the penalty kill. They did this the whole game, but little things like that I overlook. Quiksilver, you were at Thunderpuck bashing the game on the NHL 2k3 forum, what did you think was going to happen? If you don't like the game and have taken it back, why do you care or still need to post? I am not a graphics whore or a "I am taking the game back b/c I can't create myself in Franchise mode" type of guy, I want realism and this game provides that like no other Hockey game ever!

                    BDT,

I've not had problems with #1, but have seen the wierd power play situation once in about7 games (10 min periods, real time setting). I have also had the puck moving through the neutral zone and had the puck freeze situation about 3 or 4 times. When that has happened, the faceoff is where my player was when it happened, not in the faceoff circle. The replay cam from the wrong end has also happened abot 3 times.

I haven't had any of your glitches yet, but the game did freeze on me once. I have also seen the crap replays from the wrong goalie cam too. Things like this are gonna happen. Doesn't bother me much. I love this game!

I wonder if this is the same quicksilver who played online Dreamcast games and used to quit and pause games?

I guess my question would be 70 shots a game...from WHERE?

What scores were you getting? What difficulty? What kind of sliders?

I think anybody can get a hellatiously high number of shots if they just cross the blue line and flick one towards the net. Doesn't mean they're playing anything remotely close to hockey.
