What exactly do the sliders do?

Is half way even? Fo example if i set it above half way for offense would that mean the offense for the whole game is better or does the computer have better offence than me? Same with all the others?

sliders do not give the computer advantage. It just changes the way the game is played. Boosting game speed and offense will make both you and the computer more offensive orientated.

I think I read a comment from Chris Busse in the Tunderpuck forums that the offensive, defensive, and GOALIE sliders effect the CPU only

I have seen that. I tested it a little yesterday, and it seems that raising the "offensive skill" slider to full made the CPU have many more shot opprotuinites, while not really affecting my team's skill. I leave the three skill settings at defualt, may lower goalie skill to get a few more goals though.

i was playing Car in my franchise (m pen) and i upped the Off and Def a couple of motches and it sure showed that the computer got better

Cool , I was getting myself confused with these, up seemed to be improving the CPU when I was expecting it to improve me.

this is going to make huge difference. I like playing on HoF so maybe i'll just drop the defense slider and that will help out.

After playing several games the sliders seem to affect both teams, basically any AI player on the ice. For instance, to get more goals I dropped goalie skill to 0, next thing you know I go from being involved in 1-1 ties to 5-4 shootouts. Both my goalie and the CPU started flopping around all over the place, and let in some easy goals.

Usually sliding bar are for eveyone and is independant of the player type (AI or human), ie gamespeed.

The off/def/goalie skill level is an extention of the difficulty level, but for the appropriate category. It just there to help you findind a difficulty level you will enjoy and will be challenging for you.

Thanks Michel. I definately noticed it was easier for me to score by knocking down the goalie skill. I think I have it at a level where it seems realistic now. This is a great game.
