Why is NHL 2k3 so hard?

I played mabey 10 games so far and I've won only 1. The CPU seems to play like gods on this game. Yea I know, I must suck. But I wanna start a season Damn it. And I cant until I learn how to defeat the CPu. By the way I play on Allstar 8 minutes, real time clock with the slider settings that were posted on here. I dont like to play on pro, b/c the CPU defense seams to easy, thats the only game I've won so far, but I blew them out 5-2, the goalie was'nt to bright and we stomped mutholes in the CPU on defense and offense.
Then I try allstar, I mean damn, the CPU does'nt even wanna give up the puck, the utilize that puck protector to the fullest.
And also whenever I knock the puck out of them, they just hop right back on it. And when they knock the puck out of me, they always seem to be in position to take it. Give me a break already, they shoot at least 10 more shots than I do. Aggresive bastards.

But I know, I know, learn how to play. Despite all my bickering this is the most fun and realistic hockey game on the market. I just need lots and lots of practice to become a great player, but you talk about a learnig curve. It seems I get worst and worst the more I play. I need to learn how to make the plays more effective.
I am in no way bashing this game, I love this game. I'm just venting b/c i just got my *** served to me. Once I learn how to play this will be the most ultimate good time I ever had with a hockey game. Its so real its scares me. I was a EA hockey fan for the longest, but now I actually got a hockey game that resembles a hockey game.(, Now EA fanboys dont jump on me, if its any in here. lol) I was to use to the fast pace play and the non-stratergy aspects of the other game. Now i gotta put on my thinkin cap, all thanks to Sega.

All Star is pretty tough, Don't know what sliders you used , but I just dropped the Offensive and Defensive AI sliders one notch and I was having good games. I also play on Pro with the same sliders and the Goalie AI slider up a couple of notches seems to give me good games as well. I know what you mean about the CPU being all over you on ALL star, it can be frustrating, I am not decided whether it is a problem or not, I think that is why the sliders are there.

I'm just starting out and I'm playing on Pro. Tweaked the sliders a bit; I moved goalie skill down one but their offensive and defensive skill up one. I also moved shot accuracy up two. So far I have tied 0-0 and won 1-0. I actually want the CPU to score though because they had plenty of chances against me. I guess Blackburn just came up big

Even being new to the 2K series I felt that moving up to All-Star was a MUST. On Pro I could just skate right through their defense half the time. When I first went up to All-Star it seemed way too hard for me too... but it also seemed a little too fast. I turned my game speed slider down more and more, and now I have it set at 1. I feel like the game has a much more realistic pace now, and I can set up some nice plays... while the cpu defense is still tough. My problem at the moment isn't with the difficulty, it's with the LOW scores. I'm all for defensive battles, but the dang goalies are just playing GREAT every single game. I even put the goalie sliders at 0, and it's still too rare then either team scores more than 2 goals. I'm still messing witht the sliders, but that's the problem i'm facing at the moment. I'm still having a blast, and I must admit that it makes it MUCH more satisfying when I do score!

Yea, last two games I played i lost 3-0 with the goalie slider at 8 notches. I can score easily with the default level so I upped that, And I maxed out defense and offense so I'm gonna put that back at default and then I think the game will be suitible to me. With the defense and offense maxed out, even Colombus was getting in my ***.
When I get home, I'm gonna put the goalie slider on 7, i already had the speed on 1, and the shot and pass accuracy on 0. I enjoy the missed shots on goal that fly way over the goal.
But thats what it was, the offense and defense slider maxed that had teams playing so good. I'm just afraid that i might be to good on the default level. So I'm a raise that up to mabey 6 or 7.

im about 9-12-1-2 so far in my franchise on allstar. I have gamespeed dropped to 1, Offense and Defense at defualt, goalie at 1, Shot accuracy is lowered. Shot blocking raised, Pass accuracy and speed raised and i seem to have good games about 3-2. I also have aiming on auto cuas i found when i used manual most of the time i would just shot right into the goalies chest
