The return of the Hartford Whalers?

Of course the new owners would have to buy the rights to the Whaler name and logo from Peter Karmanos.

Besides the cool logo that needs to be brought back

I demand BRASS BONANZA also come back as the theme song.

As long as it doesn't involve bringing the Penguins to Hartford. I'm no Penguins fan, but I hope they stay in Pittsburgh and get a new arena. Hopefully Hartford could lure one of the Florida teams, or another southern team whose city doesn't appreciate the sport.

I don't think the addition of a new franchise is necessarily the best idea either, if no team was to relocate. As much as everybody thinks that the salary cap will revive teams in places like Quebec City, Winnipeg, or Hartford, I just don't think it'll work. It has absolutely nothing to do with the salary cap, but the markets themselves.

Yeah that would be pretty sweet if they came back. Did the original whalers become the hurricanes?

              Yes

I'd only approve of this if it involves one of the southern teams relocating. There's no way in hell that the NHL is going to admit new franchises.

As for the Penguins, they're pinning their hopes on a state lottery which would help finance a new arena. I think the Lottery is up for a vote in January.
