    2006-2007 Schedule Released



    3 games on opening night.

    Sens vs. Leafs
    Sabres vs. Hurricanes
    Stars vs. Avs

    All games from March 23 to April 8 will be exclusively within the conference which will spice up the playoff races.

    The ASG will be on a weekday.

    The Nucks open the season playing 9 of the first 11 games on the road. The return of Bertuzzi on January 7th.

      I don't know, if they put it on a weekend, they would have to compete with the NFL and NBA in terms of TV viewership.

        True but let's face it, I don't think very many hockey fans are fans of the NFL and NBA so what's the point? I like it best when the game is on a Saturday so you can have a full day of festivities and what not and have an early-ish start, say 7ish then the game is done by 10.

          A lot of NHL fans are NFL fans, but not NBA fans.

            This schedule is so stupid. Why is it necessary to play the same team 8 times a year. Wouldn't 6 be enough? That way you can spread it out so they play everybody at least once a year. Last year seeing the Leafs play the same team 4 or 5 times in 2 weeks was a bit much. Stuff like this just helps reinforce the second rate image the league has in the U.S.

              From what I heard, the NHL was dedicated to trying out this schedule for two seasons. Considering how unpopular this format was among fans (polls typically showed 2 out of every 3 fans did not like it), I don't expect to see it around come 2007-08.
