I can't wait to see the introductory press conference. That'll be comedy gold!

      LOL!

And something tells me nobody will be allowed to trade with Ballsillie's team. And at the draft, Bettman will introduce "Next on the board is the team with the a**hole owner."

          New Twist

Court documents show that Bettman would prefer the Coyotes move to Winnipeg if it's to move to Canada. He also says Hamilton isn't an ideal destination because Copps Colliseum is over 30 years old and that if there's going to be a team in Southern Ontario it would have to be through expansion.

          Intriguing no?

Well he would PREFER it be through expansion because a Hamilton or Southern Ontario expansion would be the most expensive in history, north of $300 million easily with fees paid for territorial rights.

I don't like that he's talking expansion even if it was behind closed doors, like if the league was struggling financially a couple expansion teams into primo markets would be nice extra cash for the clubs. I also like that he's being forced to share these documents as it relates to the Coyotes.

I have a feeling that most owners would rather move a poorly doing team then expand. The problem with expansion is you get a crappy team full of leftovers and won't be very competitive for a few years at least.
Look at it, Columbus just made it to the playoffs, Nashville has been there twice, partly because at the time they were in a division with bums and the Wings. Minnesota was in the playoffs multiple times because of the puck trapping style; any team that uses it can do well with less talent (1995 Devils is a decent example).
Sure, it would be good for Bettman and the league to have the team in Hamilton/Kitchener/ect., but it will not be through expansion, it will be through movement.
On way or another Balsille will move a team there.
I would also like to see another team (Florida/Tampa/Atlanta ect.) moved back into Canada.

                OUCH!

This past season, the Coyotes had a 0.4 TV rating. That translates to about 7,210 homes. Hockey ratings generally are lower than those for other sports in a market. But ratings for the Suns and Diamondbacks are 10 times that, while the NFC champion Cardinals in 2008 had a 16.9 rating, or viewership in nearly 305,000 homes.

                  Re: Broke Yotes!!

We all know the NHL is lying, but someone here please tell me how this deal beats Ballsillie's?

The Globe and Mail Sports section provides sports news, post-game analysis, in-depth features and video on Canada's teams. Find breaking sports news on baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, tennis, golf, the Olympics and more.

The source said the Reinsdorf proposal calls for $130-million (U.S.) to be put up to cover what the Coyotes owe their secured creditors. It is also conditional on a substantial annual contribution from the taxpayers of Glendale, the city which owns the NHL team's arena. That amount is said to be between $14-million and $20-million, quite a swallow for a city of about 250,000 people.
I know the argument can be made that with Reinsdorf's deal Glendale keeps their team and their only tenant at Jobbing.com Arena.
But I'd like to see how much money the local Glendale gov't was making from the Coyotes. It sure as heck better be better than $20M a year if they'd prefer this deal.

If that's the deal the NHL is going to provide the Bankruptcy court as a 'better offer' it better come with rolls of $1000 bills in it for the Judge to turn the other way.

Because if it doesn't, the judge might also see that the Reisendorf deal doesn't include one penny of Reisendorf's money. Instead, the two would-be owners are
movie and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Harry Sloan, the chairman and chief executive officer of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.
And as we all know, Bruckheimer has been rumored to be wanting a team in Vegas for a few years now.

One last tidbit. It appears that the 'save the Coyotes' rally did manage to get a few hundred people out in support - but not one player or team representative was in attendance.
Wouldn't an appearance of Wayne Gretzky have helped even a little? Or at the very least show that the coach and minority owner are still committed to that area?

I think it's pretty much done that whether or not Ballsillie gets this team, it will only be a matter of time before Bettman hands this team to a golf buddy so they can move it to another location of Bettman's liking.

                    Sorry about the spamming.
But it was revealed that the NHL extended it's line of credit to 200M.

This isn't that unusual as the NBA has done this as well.
But it makes you wonder how many teams are bleeding badly at this point.

I'm very interested to find out where the Cap will be in 2 seasons (when this past years totals come into play). Some have speculated it will $9M less than this years.

If for some crazy reason the Judge agrees with the NHL I bet the Yotes will be in Las Vegas in 2 years time.

Mark my words on that one.

                      Gary Bettman is an A-hole.

                        I think so too.
I really do think this all comes down to money though. Bettman knows that an expansion team in the Toronto area can fetch a LOT more cash than what Ballisillie's buying Phoenix for.
And not one dollar of that cash is going into any of the owners pockets.

Well the court proceeding is going on right about now....BTW a report surfaced that if the Reinsdorf group ends up getting the team Gretzsky will be out as coach. I guess he's now cheering for Balsillie to win this eh?

LOL. It's going to look something similar to the opening scene of Wedding Crashers but without the conclusion of compromise:

"You shut your mouth when you're talking to me!"

Anyway, there might be hope if Ballsillie's not included in the mediation process.
For all we know, Bettman will offer Moyes $50M to shutup and take the Reisdorf offer.

In the end though, Bettman might have to expand the league just to make the other owners happy.
If the team stays in Phoenix, how happy are the other 29 guys going to feel about shelling out more millions to keep a failed franchise afloat?
They might say "Fine, keep them in Phoenix, but expand to Toronto and Vegas and charge $400M for each to cover our costs of supporting the Coyotes".

And then they'll all raise their wine gobblits filled with the tears of orphans and make a toast to satan.

I guess a sucker IS born every minute!

PHOENIX–After what seemed to be a fruitless, never-ending search for a buyer to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix a new name has emerged who was right under everybody's nose.

John Breslow, one of the team's minority partners, is putting together an ownership group that plans to bid on the team, his lawyer, Scott Cohen confirmed to the Star......
Also Jim Balsillie will be on Primetime Sports during the 6 PM hour. I'm sure fan590.com will have an audio link to said interview ASAP.
