Judging by our poll it looks like NHL 2004 has a rough year ahead. I'm going with ESPN NHL Hockey though.

Well we would make a poll about "which game will you get, Winning Eleven 7 or Fifa2004? or MVP or WSB?" And Winning Eleven and WSB would win on those boards even if Fifa and MVP are completly outselling their competitors...

So there is nothing scientific in those polls...

NHL 2004 will outsell every other hockey games this year no matter how good it is compared to the other games...

Just make a poll "do you own NHL2k3 or NHL 2003?" You'll see that people here prefers SEGA's games while NHL2003 has completly outsold NHL2k3...

The majority of the people on this board care about gameplay and not sales records. That whole debate on what sells more is garbage, that's like saying AOL is the best ISP b/c it has more users. It's all about gameplay on this board, and from last year's editions, it looks like Sega's game will be the one that everyone gets.

It's bad enough we have the VC (NFL 2k4) vs. EA (Madden) debate on football (and many other) forums, let's not have on here.

Also, don't forget rivals...that should be good first year effort.

They are two totally different games... You usually find the people who aren't diehard hockey fans go with NHL 2003 and the people who love realistic gameplay, but don't care too much about graphics and little extras go with NHL 2k3. So, NHL 2003 probably did sell more than 2k3 because it's a game more people have heard of, especially non-hockey loving gamers.
