Man, the Red Wings look like THE Red Wings.

I think they are on a mission this year.

Wings do look solid as usual, but the Hawks look like they're in Hangover mode. Turco has looked shaky in goal and to me, that's the issue the Hawks will have to deal with this year

On another note, I'm glad I took Carlson as a D-man in my pool this year Nice game he had against the Devils

You can tell that from 2 games? I think you know what you really got after 50 games. Those are when the teams that are legit will stick out more. Redwings are going to be very good as usual. But let's wait to see how they are in 50 games our so. One thing I will say is the Hawks are going to have some trouble this year, but they loss a lot of players. But I wouldn't count them out either. Any way I am glad Hockey is back. Oh a Joe T with 2 goals already maybe this captain thing will pay off.

Well after a really close game with the Sabres, the Senators decided not to show up in Toronto. Ugh, let's at least beat the Caps.

The funny thing about the Sens was that the goaltending was the major question mark before the season and Leclaire has been the ONLY good player in their first 2 games

On the subject of the Hawks, I too think they'll be fine. They lost a lot of key players, but Bowman made out as well as he could getting good prospects in return. As I said in my last post, I'm not sure Turco's the answer for them in goal. IMHO, they should have kept Niemi.

I am sooo glad hockey's back. Soccer is my first love, but I love the NHL

Last night's Caps-Devils game was one of the best regular season games I've seen in a while.

7 goals, 4 fights, and the two teams meet again real soon. Can't wait. If the Caps can play like that (not even the goals, but the "no-BS, we're going to hurt you" mentality), this is the team that can go far. Offensively, they have a real nice mix of grit and skill, and if Fleischmann can step up his game for the postseason, they could be in real good shape.

Nathan Horton looks solid for the B's so far. 3 goals and 1 assist in the first two games isn't to shabby.

It's amazing how a young star can shine if he's surrounded with NHL talent.
He was driven out of Florida and yet who were his linemates for most of his career? A 60-point center in Stephen Weiss and collection of 50-point grinders.

It's only 2 games, but seeing him play with Kreiji and Lucic, he looks amazing out there. I hope he can remain healthy for the whole season. 40 goals shouldn't be out of reach.

On another topic, Pens fans are going to be all over me, but do you get the sense that every team is using the Habs playbook against them?
Last spring Montreal took away the middle of the ice and effectively choked off the only offensive talent Pittsburgh has - their centers. They're wingers are horribly thin.
I wonder if Shero will be forced at some point this season to finally go out and get a bonafide top 6 winger. Stacking up down the middle has left them razor thin along the wings.

Agreed and I like the Pens. I think not having Staal has hurt, but man do they ever need a REAL winger to play with Sid. It looks like Malkin will be a winger when Staal comes back, but who knows when that will be?

I too was impressed with Horton - I've always thought he'd be a good player, but had a poor poor set of forwards to play with. I have Krejci in my pool, so I'm happy that he's on his line

I think Seguin's eventually going to end up with Bergy on a line at some point. Bergeron's a skilled player, but needs a quality linemate.

A team on the downturn is the Ducks. They've looked brutal and I'm very happy because I too think they're a bunch of cheap shot artists although I do like Getzlaf.

Dammit, we almost beat the Caps. Although we got a point out of it so that's good. The Neil-Kelly-Ruutu line is looking really good thus far.

That was a bad hit indeed. I hate stuff like that. Anyway, glad to see Pominville at least moving his arms. Hopefully, he's not out for an extended period of time

In any event, the Hawks finally won despite a shaky start by Crawford. Hossa looks good so far.

Pens also win and Devils had 15 skaters. Wow

Ducks continue to look like crap
