oh god, Ryan O'Reilly carted off the ice on a stretcher after crashing into the boards with his head/neck first.

Very fun game to watch. And it was 5 lead changes, so you were right about on the money.Comment

Yeah I was just trying to do the quick math in my head. It was nice to see the boys not give up though and play a full 60. Something they've had issues doing this year, especially when going down early or giving up a lead. Though all the odd man breaks were kinda scary goin the other way. Still was fun to watch, great to get 2 points against a tough to play against Flyers team.Comment

I thought after the 8-game streak and the WC, the Caps had turned the corner and were in good shape. They looked great in some of those games.
But again they look completely lost, and I am really not sure Bruce can win a Cup.
Vancouver absolutely skated circles around them tonight.Comment

Well, the Canucks are on a nice little 19-2-3 run.I thought after the 8-game streak and the WC, the Caps had turned the corner and were in good shape. They looked great in some of those games.

Seriously, though, I thought the Caps looked disinterested for the first two periods, odd considering they were playing a top team. A sharp contrast to the Rangers, who worked like demons the night before. Given the dip in Washington's offence, I wonder if Boudreau and McPhee have listened a little too much to their critics. Tightening up defensively isn't worth it (to me) if you strangle the joie de vivre out of your best players in the process. (NOTE: I understand that this is a simplistic analysis. I've only seen about 10 Caps games this season and realize that other factors are likely involved in their offensive woes.)
When the Caps lost to Montreal despite outshooting the Habs 45-20 in every game, the critical consensus was, "The Caps are fatally flawed! They'll never win playing that style!" When Pittsburgh lost to Montreal in similar fashion, the consensus was, "Oh...I guess the Pens were tired." As a neutral fan, I'd like to see Washington say screw everybody, unleash the hounds and go back to a damn-the torpedoes, all-out offensive style. Better to lose like that than the way they lost tonight.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Wth makes the NHL schedule? Philly is in Boston Thurs. nite, has to travel to ATL for a Friday nite game, then back to NY for a Sun. nite game. After already having been on the road the last 1-2 wks. Ridiculous.Comment

Same here. It'd be great to see a highly-offensive team win the Cup.
The NHL is such a copy-cat league that all the other GM's would try to follow suit.Comment

GREAT point!http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...medium=twitter
Where was Sid when his own teammate destroyed Savard with a far dirtier hit?
(If this is true. It's conflicting right now, but if it is...smh)
I didn't hear anyone from the Pens locker room, outside of Bill Guerin, speak out against Cooke and his dangerous hit.
But I agree with Brisson. There needs to be an automatic 1-game suspension for a hit to the head. Unless it's blatantly obvious the player didn't mean to target the skull they should sit for a minimum of 1-game.
EDIT: Looks like I was wrong (big surprise
):
Like the author said, it's not like he blasted Cooke for the hit, but he at least spoke about how they need to find a common ground to what is a clean or dirty hit.He was quoted on that topic in any number of media outlets, including the following comments, which were printed in the March 11 editions of the Post-Gazette. In them, he suggested that a previously scheduled meeting of the league's general managers gave them an opportunity to address the subject that became headline fodder in the wake of Cooke's hit on Savard, "Maybe it's a good thing that the GM meetings were when they are," Crosby said then. "There's obviously some confusion as to what's a good hit and what's not a good hit. That's got to be fixed pretty quickly. We've seen it time and time again, and we all debate whether it was a good or a bad hit."Last edited by Money99; 01-18-2011, 09:38 AM.Comment

Re: The Official 2010-11 Regular Season Talk Thread
Looks like Darryl Sutter was fired a bit too late.
What a moron:
Furby's uncle should have been fired last year. Hopefully Feaster can clean up this mess.About two months ago in late November, the Washington Capitals were calling around looking for a veteran defenceman. They spoke to Sutter, then the Flames’ general manager, about Robyn Regehr. To get the 30-year-old stay-at-home rearguard, the Capitals were willing to offer 26-year-old forward Tomas Fleischmann, who was struggling to score with Washington.
