If a trade isn't made in the next week I'm going to go insane.

Should be a crazy game at the Joe. Dallas is going to give us their best shot, Wings will have to earn the record.

I also learned we also have the road games record, with 12 straight on the road in 05-06.

Mike Comrie is retiring, one gone. I hope Mike Fisher never retires.

Lots of goals from the red line over the last couple weeks. Must be Dan Cloutier Appreciation Month.

TSN is seriously sad about the lack of trade activity. They've had these trade rumor features as their main story at least once a day for the past couple months.

While they're a lot better than the yahoos on Sportsnet, their hockey coverage is getting a bit over the top.

Maybe TSN is becoming too ESPN-ized...which is a very, very bad thing.

Even ESPN has more varied coverage. I think TSN has like 30 hockey analysts on staff.

Agreed. The more irrelevant the trade deadline becomes, the more resources TSN and Sportsnet devote to it. Once something actually happens, let me know. Until then, I don't really give a **** what becomes of Tuomo Ruutu or Hal Gill.

It really does seem to be that way. The Canadian sports networks are trying to build a huge entertainment property out of the trade deadline—like the draft as a one-off event. The thing is, with the structure of the league now, making a meaningful move mostly entails taking on significant risk in the form of a larger contract. Too many teams have been burned by bad contracts under the cap system, and it has changed the front office side of the game. It's safer to abstain and try to get that player in UFA and build a solid pool of prospects.

Everything's pretty much broken for the Sabres in the last couple days, so tomorrow is a must-win to capitalize a bit on those events.

I don't hold much delusion about actually making the playoffs, but....I want to chase.

Either TSN is really reaching to make the deadline interesting (very, very possible) or Rick Nash could actually be available (pretty possible).....

Rick Nash is going to go. He has been an underwhelming captain and does not mesh with Carter. With Carter potentially going as well, and us being in prime position to get Nail, Nash becomes very expandable.

And, supposedly, LA is willing to trade Jack "MF" Johnson for Nash. If you are Columbus, you do that 10 times out of 10, especially if you can poach Bernier as well.
