"Why not?!" Jason Chimera wants his name to be remembered as he ties the game up yet again at 5-5.

It's going to take a shootout to decide this one.

Bouchard getting a 2 game suspension is a little ridiculous....

I'm going to assume the horrific turnout for the Coyotes/Stars game (6406!) can be attributed to Game 2 of the ALCS. What about Columbus, though? Attendance for the Canucks/Jackets game tonight was 9187 (2000 fewer than Wild/Islanders!) and I saw a fair number of Vancouver jerseys among the empty seats. Um...

Lightning/Capitals was spectacular, unbelievable Hockey game and I almost don't even care that the Capitals won it was so good. Hockey is off to an awesome start, I'm enjoying just about every game I see. I was hoping Lightning would get a W over Boston or Washington in this early stretch, but without a home game 'til game 6 I'm not too worried.. this is going to be a great season.

That Jackets number is really troubling. You'd think with the additions they made that there would be a little more excitement and interest in the team.

In other attendance-related news, the official number for the Jets/Canadiens game is 15,004, which is 11 short of capacity. There's no way they managed to not sell 11 tickets.

From a Winnipeg Free Press article a few weeks back:

FYI, the new official capacity of the MTS Centre has changed.

                    By one seat.

From here forward, the arena will max out at 15,004.

Its capacity began in 2004 at 15,015 but was reduced to 15,003 a few years ago to provide a few more camera locations.

With more changes, swaps and adjustments, the place gained one seat.

sure those additions are nice but until they prove it and start winning they wont fill those seats... only the die hards will show up!!

It's a shame they didn't build MTS Centre with 1,000-2,000 more seats. I could see it becoming an issue in the future.

Due to Versus' blackout rules the Avalanche-Columbus game tomorrow night will not be televised. Here's to hoping I can get out of work early tomorrow to make the drive to Ohio to go to the game.

Finally got around to checking out the PM Bouchard suspension video.

Yeah, don't think a suspension was totally warranted. If that had been a previous offender, I could see a suspension to deter that player from reverting to his goon ways. Considering it was Bouchard, hardly a pest or goon or enforcer, and it was quite clearly an accident that his stick got up that high.

Still, I think it's a good thing and it shows they're not messing around. They don't want that pre-faceoff BS. Yeah, the stick was never meant to get up that high, but they're trying to eliminate stupid, idiotic moments like that. Hopefully players think twice before they participate in those things.

One beef with it though: Calvert should've been assessed an instigator penalty, or something of that nature (unsportsmanlike?). Maybe even a game for it. He clearly baited Bouchard into the reaction and it just so happened the stick got up high. Hopefully this doesn't lead to MORE players trying to bait guys and then when they do get 'em, they accidentally commit an infraction considering Calvert got off scot-free.

Just ordered the extra sports package on my cable, it is an extra $7 a month, gives me the NHL Network and I love it.

If you missed the game last night, Look at the hit Chris Neil Put on Clayton Stoner. When I saw it I was in awe, a great hit man, this is hockey!!!!!

I'm done with this "Chuck Kobasew on first line" experiment. He looks terrible again, should switch with Galiardi. Galiardi has played well.

Oh fwiw, NHL center/centre ice is free until the 23rd.

Stole 2 pts from CBJ tonight. Attendance was 8,986 tonight....record low for Columbus.
