This has been a ****ty month for the Jets. The complete opposite of December. And now we play the second of a back-to-back tomorrow against the Rangers. The Jets are 0-7 in the tail end of back-to-backs.

      Funny story of the day.

Mick on XM Home ice was parlaying this story.
He refused to mention the name of the official at the centre of this 'prank'. He made Mick promise to never mention his name by penalty of death.

It's Game 6 Finals and Stanely is in the building.
All the officials were fed up with the team winning the series thus far and it seems safe to presume they're going to win Game 6 as well.
It sounds like a lot of the players were really getting on the officials nerves for one reason or another.
So while the white-gloved gaurdians weren't watching, they all urinated on the cup. They wiped it down so that there wasn't any obvious evidence, but they didn't wash it.
All of the officials reveled in the site of seeing these players, one-by-one, kiss a urine stained Stanley Cup. Hahahaha!

Here's another example of the whole stupid player X dishes out a clean hit to a star player leading to a fight:

Stewart had no intention of actually playing hockey once he left the bench. I know he won't be suspended but he should be. I enjoy fighting but even I don't like this kind of stuff.

Is there anyone else you'd rather sit around and have brewskies with and listen to their old-time stories than the Mickster?

Meh I've lost any good faith I had in Shanaban after the past few Bruins games to be honest. NHL Wheel of Justice still be spinnin.

Shanahan lost me with Bourque-on-Backstrom. Most of the suspensions this year resulted from spur-of-the-moment hockey plays that went bad. Bourque went out of his way to injure one of the league's best players with a blatant elbow. That had to be a 10-20 game suspension, and Shanny turned it over at the blue line (as Torts would say).

The Central division is so nuts this year.

Nashville is 4th in the Central and 6th in the Western conference with 62 points.

But they'd be no worse than 2nd in any other division, and 1st in the Southeast, Pacific, or Northwest.

I agree 100% with you on that one. But, on the whole, I think Shanny is doing a good job as the discipline czar. I like that he makes those videos to explain the punishments; it's a good start toward trying to engage the fans in the process. But there are still some head-scratchers when it comes to explaining meted out punishments...

Stewart always goes after the player when a teammate gets hit like Pietrangelo did, that's how he plays. I never seen him go from bench right to someone before though, it's usually when he's on the ice when the hit occurred.

This is why the "ditch the instigator/the rats aren't being held accountable" arguments are bogus. If players care so little about instigator penalties that they continually jump players who deliver clean hits, how are we supposed to believe that the league's dirty players are getting off scot-free?

If I was in charge, I would get rid of the instigator rule because I don't believe it's far. I do agree with your general point though.

The only way you really change behavior is by swift punishment. If suspensions were a lot more harsh, you would see less dirty plays. People love to argue how things happen in the heat of the moment and players don't even think about the threat of suspension when they do something. If this was really true than how come you rarely see a player leave a bench during a fight (I think this has only happened 2 or 3 times in the past 10 years due to the threat of an automatic 10 game suspension).

If the NHL was to put in a new rule that said any elbows to the head or slew footing results in an automatic 50 game suspension, you would rarely ever see these actions in the NHL again.

Back to back wins going into the break has gotta be a morale booster for this team. Now we can rest up, try to get some people healthy, and come back with some intensity after the ASB. New season, let's get this thing back on track!
