Not sure if the last part was sarcasm, but one thing that stands out through 4 games is the fact that rangers have showed up for about 2 periods total.

I hope all the stuff that transpired at the end of Game 4 fires up the Rangers because they haven't shown up for substantial portions of this series.

        Couldn't agree more...

The problem isn't just fatigue or lack of effort/heart but that "the system" (the one Torts refuses to change) is currently broken. The system is, as beautifully summed up via a fan at HFboards, the following:
        • Dump and chase.
        • Chip pucks around the boards blindly and right into a pinching defenseman.
        • Compact in front of Lundqvist so they can block shots and clog lanes but lose every race to the puck at the boards.
        • 3-man cycle behind the net with no one in front.

The Rangers defer the puck way too much and give the other team the ability to control the puck and the game. Combine that with how fatigued they are and it's a recipe for disaster.

Tort's stubbornness and refusal to tweak his system is hurting the team right now.

I still believe that the players can "right the ship" but Torts needs to change things first. Another performance in game 5, like last night, and I think they are done.

Basically, plug in almost any other guy in net, and this series might have been over.

Uh oh, that sounds like what the Flyers were doing and it played right into the Devils hands. Seemed like they knew what was coming and were there to shut it down before it ever got started.

I haven't caught much of this series at all... it's hard to justify it when it's not MY team (still scoreboard watching)... but yeah, Torts has to change or the Devils will continue to suck them in and capitalize on their own opportunities.

            Anyway...

Kings get another crack at closing out the Coyotes, this time in Phoenix. Who knows man. If Phoenix wins again, it'll be the first "adversity" the Kings will have faced all postseason. You like to know what your team has when the pressure turns on them...

I think the problem boils down to Torts not wanting to change what has worked, and to a point I agree. However dump and chasing is simply not going to work against the devils especially with marty back there acting as a third defenseman with the way he handles the puck.

Rangers win this series one of 2 ways, Hank simply steals 2 games for us while we change nothing, or Torts actually adjusts and tweaks our plan of attack.

Re: The Official 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread

That makes two huge powerplay goals for the Coyotes in this series on two questionable penalty calls against the Kings. Hopefully this one isn't the game winner like the one in game 4.

The Coyotes are playing with an energy I haven't seen yet in this series. Kings need to wake up.

Edit: Thankfully the Kings SH unit continues to score with the Kopitar redirect. Kings are lucky to be tied coming out of the first. Let's see if they can run with this and close out the series tonight.

These refs are not calling anything in this game anymore.

edit: With the refs letting the Coyotes get away with everything, and the bounces going against Quick right now the Coyotes tie it up at 3.
