There are factors in both Parise and Suter's cases that make Detroit an attractive option for them, but I would still be surprised if the Wings are able to land both of them.Comment

I believe the top federal rates are similar (about 30%). Huge difference between provincial & state taxes, though. Texas & Florida have no state tax, Pennsylvania 3%, Illinois 5%, New York & California 9%. By comparison: Alberta 10%, Ontario 11%, BC 14%, Quebec 24% (!). Plus a lot of things cost more up here.Comment

Not holding my breath. With how well Detroit generally drafts or gets lucky on draft picks, it might take 3-5 years while guys who are ready, languish in grand rapids. It's the RedWings way.Comment

I am curious to see what will happen with Detroit's Big 3 prospects: Smith, Tatar and Nyquist. If it was up to me, they'd all be in the NHL, but with the way Holland works, he'll probably sign guys to block their way to the NHL.Comment

We'd have room if Lidstrom hangs them up. I don't know if he will, he was pretty underwhelming in the series. Although if he takes less money to come back, and then Stuart and Hudler leave, we'd have room for both, but then we'd have to call up a prospect, which is sacrilege in the bible according to Holland.

They could conceivably have room even if Lidstrom comes back. Even if Nick re-signed for another six million (which would be too much, IMO; he'd take a paycut), the Wings would have 14 million in cap space, and no other "major" players to re-sign; if Hudler re-signs it won't be for much, Stuart is gone, Holmstrom is done, and Helm and Abdelkader aren't expensive players at all.Comment

Good. He deserves every one of those 25 games. I hope it was worth it to him."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."
