It could lol. Although for the Leaf's sake you better hope it doesn't.

60 points and defensive responsibility is pretty solid for a second line center. Although they still need to make a few additions before they are a playoff team.

Second line centre is Grabovski, he's our LWer. I think if we add Luongo (who's situation is getting ridiculously stupid) and Just Schultz, maybe trade for a centre, we'll be a playoff team.

Anyone think a package including Gunnarson and Cody Franson could get a Paul Stastny? Are there even any playmaking centres available?

Probably not. Stastny hasn't been the same since he got that big contract, but he's still young and has a lot of offensive talent.

Ironically, in order to pull Stastny from Colorado, Schenn would have most likely been needed.

To get a guy like him now, the Avalanche would like a top-4 dman, top-6 forward (both under 26 years of age) and probably a good prospect or high draft pick.

I could see Stastny plus a player or pick in a package for Bobby Ryan.

Are there any play making centers (or wingers that can take draws) on the block?

I've heard a few rumblings that Stephen Weiss might be available. He's a UFA next season and he fits the bill of a good playmaknig centre who can take draws and provide decent offense.

The Panthers will wait to see if they're in the hunt before dealing him, so I wouldn't say he's available right now.
Your best bet was probably Ribeiro.

Other than that, and with so many teams looking for help down the middle, the pickings are pretty slim.

I wouldn't buy a Lebron tshirt because it's only him on the front of it; THERE ARE ALL THESE OTHER NBA PLAYERS IN THE GAME DESPITE WHO'S ON THE COVER. That's the point you guys are missing. I remember people buying some ugly Jordans just because they were Jordans--yes. But that's ALL they were: Jordans. Basketball games have all the other players in the game! If Jordan is on the cover, it's not just Jordan's game. Am I making any sense here? I mean I seriously have a headache.

I mean, what do you guys do with your covers? Do you set them on top of your tvs while you play your game? Do you sleep next to them? Do you put it on the table when you eat? They're COVERS! I HATE Duke, but I bought College Hoops 2K7 and JJ Reddick was on the cover--but I didn't care. I played the game; I don't play covers.

A lot of people didn't like Tim Tebow when he was in college, but that didn't stop the masses from buying NCAA Football 11. Geez...

That sucks. I thought the asking price was Kadri and a 1st or something. That's ridiculous. Oh well.

If you want Stastny, it starts with Gardiner +. I doubt Toronto even wants to add the pieces that Avs want to make a deal. Not really good trading partners between Avs and Leafs, and Avs won't trade Stastny after overpaying a bit for Jones to play them together on a line, unless a #1 D is coming back.

Schenn didn't really fit in Colorado imo, he's a Right handed D and we're filled with those. If he was left handed, he would have been more interested. Also have O'Byrne as the "shutdown" guy who is pretty good for us. Obviously, Schenn's potential blows O'Byrne's potential out of water.

Doubt Anaheim wants Stastny because of 6.6M cap hit. I believe they're only looking to deal Ryan to get cheaper and quality young players.

I'm still a believer in Kadri, they should try and develop him instead of asking for other team's #1 centers

I think you're overvaluing Stastny a bit here.

Yeah, I like Kadri, but he can't take faceoffs and he's a scorer. I think that Colborne could be a good playmaking centre.

Am I? You know what you're getting with Stastny though, I think last 2 years were a fluke for him. He had a great first half in the 10-11 season, was an all-star and had a ****ty second half. ****ty/unlucky first half of 11-12 season, and good second half. 32 points in 42 games in year 2012. In 2010, 35 points in 37 games in the first half.Take the 2011 year away, and he was pretty good. Quick estimation, in the year 2011 74 games 43 points.

Obviously you can't, I expect him to reach 60+ points this year. Also good on the faceoffs (55% this past year) and very good in the defensive zone. Gardiner was good for Toronto, but Avs probably would want more of a proven player for him.

Also I doubt Stastny has much value at this point because teams will see the declining numbers and the cap hit. Trading Stastny means we go into the season with O'Reilly and Duchene as #1 and #2 centers, that's not really an ideal situation.

Gardiner would be the main part of a package for Rick Nash, and Nash is better than Stastny, so that's my logic here. He's a very good player, but not as good as Nash.

Ondrej Pavelec isn't going anywhere, thankfully. Jets locked him up to a 5 year deal for $19.5 mil.

Now we need to see what happens with Kaner.
