There must be a Quebec City mole in the upper echelons of CBJ management, it's the only explanation. Why else would the Jackets be following the Don Waddell/Thrashers blueprint?

I think Hunter would've been good for the Caps, but I think this ended up being a situation where either Hunter or Ovie had to go, and of course they have to keep Ovie around. Sort of akin to the Orlando Magic Howard-Van Gundy situation; town's not big enough for the both of them.

I should say, I have absolutely no insight into the situation in D.C., and I'm just talking out of my rear. Just giving a total outsider opinion, based on nothing solid whatsoever.

In the least shocking news of this offseason, Alex Semin is leaving the Caps. I would love this guy on the Avs, however there is a rumor that he and Varly doesn't get along

Should be interesting to see what team throws a bunch of money at him. Skittish offensive player who doesn't know how to backcheck or play any kind of defense? Blech.

Sounds like a perfect player for the Sabres.

Well then they really ****ed it up when they got public funding for the next 25+ years.

On second thought...that does sound very Blue Jackets-ish to me.

When motivated, Gaborik is a good defensive player. He was under Lemaire in Minny and has, at times, been in NY. He can be solid positionally and a good poke checker (he's just not very physical). The key here is "when he is motivated". You certainly hit the nail on the head about him being skiddish. He is wuss and is often a lazy floater. However, I'd still take him over Semin. When motivated and healthy, he is a better all-around player then AS.

Don't think we have any stupid money to spare. It's being eaten up by fellow ex-Panthers Keith Ballard and David "The Cowardly Hunter" Booth.

Oilers parted ways with coach Tom Renney, looks like Tambellini is still running things!!! They'll have another 1st overall pick next year.

He was the same player in Minnesota as he is in NYC. The only difference is his groin muscles aren't exploding at every turn. It seriously seemed like he'd injure a hammy walking to grab his morning coffee and paper. He wasn't a good defensive player at all under Mr. Trap. In fact, they butted heads at every turn because he didn't want to play in that kind of system at all.
