Although it was possible since they were the 8th seed, it was impossible for them given the number of games played. They'd have to have won every series in 7 games if they always lost at home as they would have to win the 4 games to advance on the road. None of their series went 7, so... that's all you needed.

Re: The Official 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Two posts for Chicago again last night...puck luck seems to be with the Wings lately. I'll take it. Three chances to win one game....gotta be able to close this out.
Side note: can we get a different color guy doing the Wings' games than Eddie Olczyk? I know everyone thinks the national commentators are somehow "against" their team, but I'm stuck with the NBC Sports coverage (I wish I could get the TSN or CBC feeds...), and I'm tired of him constantly making the same (barely valid) point about how the Wings are "the best" at "subtly interfering with" opposing players. He's been making the same point for what seems like years now, and it's starting to get on my nerves. I mean, EVERY game he points out how the Wings are allegedly interfering with opposing players and getting away with it, it's like the most backhanded compliment (look how well they cheat!) and it's not like we're the only team making marginal contact behind the plays. It's one thing to point it out once or twice, but it's literally every single game like he's lobbying the refs or something. It's like he had one semi-decent original hockey insight in his life 4 years ago and he's so happy about it he's going to drill it into the ground every time he gets a chance. We get it, Eddie - you've caught on to the Wings trying to rub guys off of plays and not getting called for intereference. Congrats. Now please move on to your second point....Comment

If the Sharks do end up losing this, it will be time to get rid of McLellan; but knowing Doug and his love for average coaches, he will probably give him an extension. My YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/gosjsharks14Comment

I think McLellan is 2x the coach Ron Wilson was. Honestly, I don't think there is a much better coach out there. AV? Ruff? They could go off the board and get a fresh guy, but that's always a crap shoot. It doesn't feel like McLellan has worn out his welcome yet either, especially considering this team, after the deadline moves they made, didn't have any big expectations of winning a cup.Comment

I predicted a Pens-Bruins ECF'S, so I hope to get my wish. As for the West, I had the Blackhawks and Kings, so I need a comeback by Chicago.Red Sox|Patriots|Celtics|UConnComment

Or maybe I'm just used to Brodeur.Originally posted by XXstormmXXThe reason I always root for multiple teams is because if one team doesn't make the playoffs or gets eliminated, I loose interest in the sport until next season if my team gets eliminated early. It keeps things interesting if you still have a team you like in the playoffs...Comment
