Hearing Petesy is going to be announced tomorrow. First players he trades for and signs are Chris Kelly, Dan Paille and Greg Campbell. And Kelly is going to get dealt in a package for Taylor Hall (salary reasons).

Still an upgrade for Edmonton, and that's the sad part.

I know it's the in thing to rip Chiarelli at the moment, but let's face it: this is a gigantic upgrade. Besides, this now allows Kevin Lowe to slide into his new role as "winning consultant".

I see the Sharks are talking to Randy Carlyle.

I know that's true...but you won't be saying that after like 5 years. I have stated this before if there is a consensus gamechanger available when he is drafting he can't do it. Yes he will hit this #1 but give him #9 next year, and he will **** that pick up. Also just a note if he trades Hall that would be 3 top 5 picks he would have moved as a GM. Seguin, Kessell and Hall.

Price, Dubnyk, and Rinne are the Vezina finalists.

I'd vote for them in that order.

I guess I'm surprised that it's fashionable to rip Chiarelli.

He won a Cup, and has pretty much been a fixture in the playoffs since he arrived in Boston. I don't see how he's not a major upgrade.

Chia is an upgrade over MacT (obviously) but I think he's average. The Bruins are filled with overpaid veterans with NMCs, and not much young talent (outside Pastarnk or however you spell his name).

Also, I read that Bruins might get compensation, I don't know why.

Holland rule or sth like that

Even for people that were fired, their clubs can ask for compensation. But they don't have to, it's their option. From what I've read, Boston won't be claiming for compensation, they'd rather be free from any financial debt to Chiarelli aka free from what they owe him for remaining years of his contract.

Yea it's not about any of that when it comes to Chiarelli. He basically inherited the core of this team. Most Boston fans give credit for the '06 draft to Jeff Gorton which was Kessel and Marchand. And ever since the Cup win in '11 he can't make any good trades. Kaberle and Jagr for 1st round picks. Getting Morrow, Ericksson and Smith for Seguin. Not being able to seal the deal on an Iginla trade in 2012. All the NMC's he gave to pretty much everyone including Chris Kelly. Signing Chris Kelly to that contract. Also he can't draft...look at every draft from 2007-2012. How many guys has he hit on in comparison to next player drafted from that position. IE 2007, drafted Zach Hamill and next C drafted Logan Couture. Yes he is definitely an upgrade but he can't draft for ****. During his tenure he hit on 2.5 picks debatably. Seguin, Hamilton, and Pastrnak. And Pasta is a half because it was only 1 season. Also they gave up on Seguin too early but that's an organization move but the return still falls on Pete. Yes you can look at all of his good moves like drafting Seguin, Hamilton, his trades before 2011 cup run. But all of his bad moves outweigh all of those good moves.

                        Edit:
Gorton was the GM for the '06 draft as Chiarelli was behind the table for Ottawa at the time. Because they wanted him to finish out his contract or something.

Crosby is gonna play in the WC. Kinda surprised he's going. Even Mike Smith can't mess this up for Canada.

Germany, Austria, and France might have a few problems with Canada's C depth of Crosby, Giroux, and Seguin, methinks.

If I were Crosby, I'd run to Luongo and convince him that he should play for team Canada in this WHC. Without good goalie, I think that Canada will have a few problems.

But yeah, that C depth is crazy.

Eh, Lu's 35. Let the old guy have the summer off to play poker. My guess is Jake Allen gets the invite for the 3rd G spot (and should be the starter).
