Thinking it's a must win for the Flyers this weekend. You start out essentially 0-5 (regardless of taking 2 games to OT), you start making comparisons to last year. The defensive scheme has to get a facelift and soon.

Oh boy, Varlamov is on IR for the time being, and now Colorado's backup goalie is hurt and out of the game.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Heh, watching SJ-NYI, Stalock is so aggressive coming out and playing the puck, reminds me of his days in Duluth. Makes for some interesting moments sometimes, but he's great with the puck. Was always frustrating when he caught your team on a change.
Oh, and I think the Islanders are going to be a lot better than I would have expected them to be this year.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

I assume they could get a pretty good package for one of those young forwards. Someone would be willing to part with either some decent defensemen or at least prospects. Isn't the problem in EDM more about all players being similar minded? Some team will definitely pay (and probably overpay) for a change of scenery for one of those kids. Could probably work out for both parties, too.
I don't think effort is the issue. I think those players are all trying their hardest. But it's not 1985 anymore where you can load up with offense and win. You need a combo of skill and grit. And probably a couple of guys that loathe losing to keep everyone accountable.

Not piling on Lucic as this is a broad statement, but shouldn't players who receive a game misconduct in the 3rd-period be forced to sit-out the next game as well?
Where's the punishment to being tossed with 1 minute left in the game?
On another topic, it's awesome to see the 3-on-3 experiment working in the AHL.
I may have to double check this, but so far not one game has gone to SO since implementing this rule.
I hope the NHL adopts it as well.
The NHL's biggest hangup to adding an extra 5 min OT is that they don't want to add more time to the average game.
But most games never start on time anyway. Most begin a minimum of 10 minutes from the advertised start-time.
Just make the games actually start on time so adding an extra 5 min OT won't alter anything.Comment

What I thought was funny about it is he was raising the imaginary Cup at Montreal fans of all people. Oooh, you have exactly 1 Cup since their last one and only trail by 18 now! Sick burn!Comment

Flyers played a little 3 on 3 recently during overlapping penalties and it was crazy for the 30 seconds it lasted. I like 4 on 4, but 3 on 3 takes it to a level the NHL needs to go to eliminate SO many shootouts.
Just add the extra 5 minutes, too! The NHL is winning with their game times (even if they start late), they can afford to tack on an extra 5... Just in case.
NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
