Really nice of the parents of the Wings 1st round pick to dress up for the occasion.
I'm guessing they sold pot in order to pay for their kids youth hockey.

Shaw had his moments but he also commited some of the dumbest penalties. After the Bickell debacle, there was no way he was getting more than 3-3.5 tops.

Thanks for the memories and good luck in Montreal.

Holland made a killer deal (I never thought I would say that); he did a great job to benefit from Chychrum falling.

They have 19 M in cap space, but with Pulkkinen and Marchenko bridge deals and longer term deals for Mrazek and DeKeyser coming; that'll be cut in half pretty quick. They can shave 1 M by burying Vitale. Dumping Ericsson is difficult but necessary if they want to be a contender. Buying him out only saves between 2.6 and 2.8 per year, so I'd rather they try to work out a deal. Unfortunately with Calgary getting Elliott, I think the market is dried up for Howard. Worst case scenario, I think he could be taken in the expansion draft. To sum it up, I don't think Stamkos is the answer especially at the money he will have to be paid.

Ericsson is unmovable. There is no market for a player who shouldn't even be in the NHL who is on the books for 4.25 million dollars for four more years. That's a disgraceful contract, the worst on a roster with numerous egregiously terrible deals.

Nice deal for Leafs. The condition being that it's a 5th if Harrington gets claimed on waivers. No pick if he goes unclaimed,or makes main roster.

Leafs were likely waiving him anyways cause I doubt he would've made NHL roster, with maybe 2 open spots on D right now(and probably 4-6 potential guys in ahl who could fill it).

So leafs basically have Andersen,Kapanen,Rychel and others as result of return on Kessel trade.

Hope a change of scenery helps Rychel. Even turning into a 3rd line winger would help Leafs since their top 6 for future if guys pan out, will be solid for years(Marner,Matthews,Nylander,JVR,Kadri, and 1 more guy), so depth on roster would be big. He's 21 right now, so still time to turn things around.

I think you gotta let him walk. He's going to get at minimum $9M over 7 years. And that's at a hometown discount probably.

I read that Yzerman was willing to go to $9.1M.
But if they did, that puts them in heck of a bind to get Hedman, Johnson and Kucherov (among others) who need to be signed in the next 2 years.

I'm a big Stamkos fan, but I think TB will be just as competitive without him. At least while Filpulla is playing at this level.

I was going over some teams D situation in regards to the expansion draft, and it looks like there could be some notable players who either go unprotected, or could become trade bait. Remember, teams can either protect 7F/3D or 8 skaters.

                          Ducks-Vatanen/Fowler/Depres(Bieksa auto protected)
                          Bruins-Krug/McQuaid/Miller/Morrow(Chara auto protected)
                          Hawks-TVR/Svedberg/Gustafsson(Seabrook/Keith/Hjalmarsson auto protected)
                          Avs-Barrie/Gelinas/Zadorov(Johnson/Beauchemin auto protected)
                          Jackets-Johnson/Savard/Murray/Prout/Jones(Tyutin auto protected)
                          Panthers-Pysyk/Petrovic/Ekblad(Yandle auto protected)
                          Wild-Spurgeon/Brodin/Scandella/Dumba(Suter auto protected)
                          NYI-DeHann/Hamonic/Leddy/Hickey(Boychuk auto protected)
                          Pens-Matta/Schultz/Cole/Dumoulin(Letang auto protected)
                          Caps=Niskanen/Carlson/Alzner/Orlov/Schmidt(nobody protected)
The expansion draft definitely will be leading to some big trades. Hawks for example, already got 3D spots locked up,so those guys are for sure being unprotected. Jackets got too many NMC on forward to utilize the 8 skater option to protect 4+ defencemen,so guys like Savard/Prout are likely gonna be available.

Lol at you thinking Chara is going to be protected. Dude is in his late 30's with a 7 million cap hit. He isn't getting protected. If anything of those listed it will be Krug that gets protected.

Chara is not eligible for the expansion draft, he is automatically protected by the Bruins.

Exactly. That's why I said auto protected. It means guys are automatically protected whether a team likes it or not. Guys can waive nmc, but how many, especially older guys, will waive to go to a likely bad Vegas team. And even if they waive, no guarantee they go, and that might be real awkward situation, showing a team wants to get rid of a guy, the guy waives nmc to leave, but the end result is he stays.
