Can't believe we're only 1 week away from the draft!

Matthews to the Leafs, and we get to see the new jerseys!

I'll make sure to light a candle for him that day... such a waste of good talent. Kessel Jr. should be his nameplate on those sweaters.

Blackhawk fans "unhappy" with Quenneville are welcome to remember the glory days of their team being on PPV and always finishing at the bottom of the standings before he, Kane, and Toews arrived.

That's understandable. But when that style of hockey (Shaw as an 'indepensible' hockey player, please, money99 gets it, it seems) is too slow to compete, like it pretty much was shown this postseason, why keep it around? It's not a successful blueprint anymore.

Why go back to where, as you say, people remember the last place days? Quenville has been riding the coat tails of Kane, Towes, Hossa, and Saad, etc.for about a decade. Same for Hitchcock and Sutter. No difference. No sense of skill hockey. No appreciation of it, at least.

Apparently the Flames are actively calling the Pens about acquiring Marc-Andre Fleury.

*insert joke about 90% of Chicago fans being unaware of Blackhawks' existence prior to 2007 here*

I was gonna say 2009, but that works too.

As was posted here a day ago. Any ideas on what Calgary could offer as a realistic return? T.J.Brodie too expensive as a trade piece...Fleury is a cap liability to the Pens, so trading for Brodie not cost effective, nor likely in Flames plans... So anybody got a proposal???

Which sucks given the fact they're an original 6 team. Hope they never struggle again like they did prior to the Kane/Toews era. From 97-08, were dark days in their existence. Sooner or later they'll miss playoffs, so hopefully people don't jump off bandwagon the first bad year they have.

That hinges entirely on how the Bulls are doing... sad to say.

I saw a shirt some fan group thing made that had the #11 and "Los Anzeles" on the back.

I hate admitting how bad *** that is.

You do know Saad has been in Columbus for almost a year now right?

The Blackhawks have had their success buildng around their core and for the most part not overpaying role players (Bickell backfired miserably), they paid Kruger a lot for what he does last year but he is a huge part of the teams success, him being their lockdown defensive center allows Toews to have a lesser role there.

I think Shaw should be allowed to walk for that reason, I think he is more easily replaceable and his money would be better spent on a #4 D and seeing if Hartman or Motte can fill his role, but if they want to pay him 3 mil then hopefully Kempny is the real deal, or TVR takes another step forward, or Pokka/Forsling can make a quick impact otherwise the defense will be iffy again.

I like Shaw I just think he's pretty much hit his ceiling and for that reason I feel that 3 million+ is a gamble for a team with a tight salary cap.

Sorry. Been busy watching championship caliber hockey.

He has gone Claude Raines. I do remember some talk of Saad coming home, but his contract was out of range for the cap hit then.

How's Rob Scuderi working out? And thanks for Trevor Daley. He was so useless...

Didn't watching the fastest team in the west (SJ) aside from Dallas, get outplayed as if it was a minor league team, mean anything?

Unless any of those moves in Chicago involve puck moving d and speed on the bottom 2 lines, it doesn't matter who's advertising a restaurant... Too slow.

Given your wanting the Pens to bring Saad back home from Chicago if that is how Q wants his teams to play it's pretty clear you weren't watching much hockey before that championship playoff run.

But the Bulls weren't exactly a good team from 98-04 either though.
