Can they just like, paint a 'key' around the net that gives anyone carte blanche to commit any foul they please? This is for offense and defense.
They can call it the Thunderdome Zone(!) and if you enter, it's no holds barred similar to the Royal Rumble!
And maybe they can find a way to lower a cage over the area and the last player conscience wins a goal for his team?

At least in this scenario, everyone involved knows to never expect a penalty. Take the gray area out of it.
We already know refs won't call anything, but at least in this system, fans won't get upset knowing they are watching 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 straight cross-checking penalties go uncalled.

The team that beat them
The team that got better after losing their best player to the Leafs
The team the Leafs want to be

And then likely the team who has accomplished more in their few years of existence than the Leafs have in 50+ years.

You can always count on two things in the playoffs. Leafs losing in round 1, and Avs losing in round 2.

Assuming they go back to the old divisions next season, Avs should be in good shape next year in a shoddy central.

Even worse for the Leafs, Isles did it with the GM the Leafs let go. Although the Isles are running out of time; their cap sheet is liable to get fugly in the next few seasons. Trading a 2022 first to Seattle to take Ladd would be a big help in easing this burden.

Anyway, since the NHL can be late starting the 2nd round, I can be late with my 2nd round picks:

Jets over Canadiens in 5
Lightning over Hurricanes in 6
Bruins over Islanders in 6
Avalanche over Golden Knights in 7

Mmm, a solid 4/12 after 2 rounds, and none of my original Final Four made it to the semis. Excellent.

All I ask here is that either both underdogs or both favourites make it. Habs vs Isles would be such a freakshow that I'd love it. Habs vs Bolts, hard pass.
